Kyle POV

I ran as fast as I could to the pack doctors. I barge through the doors with Paige in my arms and Mason by my side, I had mindlinked him on the way here to meet me here.

"Someone, help!" I yell and immediately all the staff runs to my aid.

"Women doctors only." I tell them and all the men leave. It wasn't that I didn't trust that they could help save my mate but the only thing that was keeping her covered was my shirt on her that luckily was huge on her. They lead me to a room with a surgical table in the middle. I gently set her down. Immediately they told me to leave but I didn't want to leave my dying mate, I wanted to stay by her side forever. Since I was the Alpha they finally agreed but told me to turn around while they quickly examine her. I listened at the older looking female doctor yelled at the younger females to run and grab stuff, bandages, gauze, tools, and even to grab some undergarments for my mate. They quickly got her dressed and were about to remove the bullet when the head female doctor spoke up.

"Alpha Kyle I understand this is your mate and I understand that but you don't want to be in the room as I remove the bullet. Please sit outside and as soon as I'm done I'll let you know." I turned around and saw her pleading look so I obliged and kissed my mate's forehead before leaving the room. I sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours, but really was only like half an hour, when the doctor finally came out.

"How is she?!" I ask quickly jumping up out of my seat.

"She is going to be fine, it'll take her a while to heal though as she just recently had her first shift. She does have a broken nose, three broken ribs, and a lot of bruising but those will heal with time. You can go see her in her room if you like." I nodded and followed her to my mate's room. In seconds I'm right by her bed in a chair holding her hand. The doctor leaves and Mason thanks her for her hard work.

"How was she in that bad of a condition?" Mason asks and rage quickly takes over me, my wolf on the verge of coming out.

"I don't know but whoever it was will pay for doing this to my beautiful mate." To calm me down I inhale my mates beautiful and intoxicating scent it roses and fresh cut grass. I play with her fingers and admire how they fit in mine. This woman was perfect. The Moon Goddess had blessed me with an amazing mate.

Paige POV

I slowly feel my consciousness come back as I'm flooded with a feeling of pain. I scrunch my eyes not wanting to come to the reality of how I might be dead. The sound of a metal tray falling nearby startles me into quickly sitting up and opening my eyes. I clutch my side as a wave of pain floods through my side. A pair of big, strong hands gently force me to lay back down. I turn and I see Kyle. He was here, my mate was here next to me, how?

"How are you feeling?" He asks me and his deep, soothing voice sends shivers down my spine.

"I'm good, I guess since it seems I'm alive still. What happened?" I ask him as he intertwines our fingers.

"I smelled your scent this morning and wanted to find you as we're mates. I followed the scent to find you dying on the forest floor." I see the pain in his eyes as he remembers. "I quickly picked you up and took you to the doctors of my pack." He kisses my knuckles as he finished and looks at me. I can't help but gaze I his eyes. "Who hurt you that badly my love?" I quickly notice the anger and rage in his eyes.

"It was my grandfather, he knew I shifted into a wolf last night and tried to kill me. You don't have to worry about him anymore though, he's dead." I say that with no emotions as my mind is still reeling from everything that's happened in the last day. I feel him study my face, trying to look for any emotion before he speaks again.

"Well you're being discharged today but you'll be on bedrest for a couple days so you'll stay with me at the packhouse." I nod and he tells me to sleep some more before I get discharged in a couple if hours. So I let sleep take over.
