I remember the dead silence within the air as I started into her dragon fiery eyes. I could see anger, pain and...loneliness. I guess she saw it in mine too.
"Sorry if I almost hit ya kid...it's unwise to be in the middle of the woods at night. Shouldn't you be at home were your parents know you are safe?" She said with barley any emotion as she gathered what little stuff was her such as an earpiece, some sack with 4 glowing Emeralds and some kind of watch.
"...I don't have any...no parents...or a home." I glanced over to the orphanage seeing it in the distance as she looked at what my eyes were staring off at until she realized what I meant.
"Oh..." is all she said. She then looked at me then sighed. "Sorry kid...nothing I can do here." She admitted before turning away starting to walk away.
I watched her as she walked away into the darkness until I couldn't see her. I stood still until I sighed walking towards a tree and I sat down on the hard ground against the tree.
I kept my eyes my eyes closed as I stayed in the woods for what felt like forever. Until I heard her steps close by. Heading straight for me until they stopped.
She looked down at me thinking on what to do and then sighed. "Why are you out here instead of the orphanage?" She asked out of curiosity.
"They...hurt me...I'm scared to go back." A nervous shake left my voice as I explained to the female dragon. She for once looked at me not out of annoyance but a look of sympathy I could see in her eyes.
"Alright. Come with me we've got a place you co-"
"LOOK OUT!" whilst she was talking I saw some kind of robot shooting a missile directly at her so after I warned and pushed her out the way i used my "superpowers" to grab the slow incoming missile and throw it back at the robot destroying it completely. I saved a life...
"Woah...that was pretty...uhh...what's the word? Hmm...oh uh snazzy. Like me." I shared a big cheeky smile showing my perfect white teeth feeling proud of myself.
"Y-you saved me? Wow...that was pretty fast kid...looks like you've got super speed as well."
"As well? You mean...there are others like me?!" I rushed to her excited and relieved knowing I wasn't the only one of my kind
"Uh yeah...you should meet Sonic and Shadow. They can probably help you out with your...speed."
"Oh ok cool. Ummm..." I looked back at the orphanage yet again. "I think...I better go back."
She looked at me as if she wasn't impressed before I heard her mutter "I'm gonna regret this." To herself.
"Alright kid...if you come with me and stay quiet and don't annoy me...I'll take you back to my hideout. Hope you aren't scared of robots cause I've got a roommate called Omega who is one...and a female bat...and a hedgehog."
"Ok sure yeah I promise I'll be on my best behaviour." I smiled up at her as she looked at me and sighed before we started to walk away together.
"What's your name miss?"
"...it's...Ember."
"Nice to meet you Ember."
"Yeah...you too Daven...I guess."
