A/N:

I am so sorry about the delayed update! Stuff was just getting in the way. Thank you so much for dealing with me and my terrible schedule. But without further ado, here is an Astrid chapter!

Astrid decided that if they lived through the day, they were really going to have to find a way to put Pitch in the ground.

There was a literal black cloud of Night Mares moving towards them. It didn't get any worse than that.

Astrid rushed towards Stormfly, seizing a sword from where it sat on a nearby blacksmith's display. No one complained. They were all about to die after all.

"Get Anna and all the defenseless to safety!" Elsa shouted at Astrid and Hiccup over the clamor. She seemed to practically spark with power; Astrid could feel the link of Jack and Elsa's soul bond awakening, a river of ice cracking and flooding downstream.

Astrid didn't hesitate any longer. She launched Stormfly into the air, snatching up Anna as they swooped past. She could hear Hiccup telling all the children to head for the main hall. Astrid dropped Anna and a few other kids off there before wheeling Stormfly around.

Toothless flew up along side them, Hiccup fumbling with a crossbow.

Up ahead, there was a full on battle. Vikings on dragons streaked by, slamming into black horses. On the ground, the Berkians were launching catapults, throwing spears.

The thrill of the fight coursed through Astrid as she selected her opponent. Nearby, Elsa stood on a roof, throwing bolts of ice into the air, shattering Night Mares into black dust. Her eyes glowed like blue stars.

Needing no dragon to fly, Jack zipped around, disintegrating Night Mares with well-placed snowballs.

Toothless set Hiccup's crossbow bolts on fire, sending alight projectiles into their enemies.

Fearlessly, Astrid stood up on Stormfly. Gripping her sword in one hand, she leaped into the air, impaling an unsuspecting Night Mare.

For a few breathless moments, she dropped weightless through the air. With a jolt, she crashed into Stormfly, nearly impaling herself in the process.

"Let's not do that again," she muttered, slashing out at a Night Mare as it dove towards them.

Vikings were taught how to fight faster than they could walk. As a result, Astrid was quite handy with weapons.

There was a shout, and Stormfly did a complete one-eighty, Astrid clinging on for dear life, until she saw what was happening.

A Night Mare had slammed into Elsa from behind, trying to knock her off the roof. She had managed to hold on though, and was clinging to the horse with frost-coated hands.

The Mare whinnied in annoyance and dissolved, leaving Elsa to freefall through the air.

Astrid dove towards her plummeting form, as did Hiccup and Jack, but Elsa rescued herself.

She thrust out a hand, and a dragon materialized beneath her, made of ice and snow. It loosed a bone chilling roar and turned a nearby Night Mare into an ice sculpture.

That seemed to draw the attention of most of the dark creatures. They swarmed towards Elsa, who flung out both hands, frost pouring from her fingertips.

White filled Astrid's vision. She heard Elsa yell, Jack shout her name, and a wave of icy power ripple through the air.

Stormfly bobbled in the air but recovered.

Astrid opened her eyes, watching as Mares, turned into picturesque sculptures, slammed into the ground, shattering into thousands of pieces.

Something cold tickled the back of Astrid's neck, and she looked up to see snowflakes floating lazily from the air. The rooftops were coated with snow, and the very air seemed to be tinged with frost.

Elsa was on her icy dragon; her eyes blazed like blue stars, wind and snow swirled around her, encompassing her in white. For a moment, she wasn't Astrid's friend. She was a conquering goddess, a snow queen.

Then, her gaze cleared, her power seemed to recede, but the snow blanketing Berk remained.

Elsa looked left and right, panicking. "What have I done?"

"Set off an eternal winter?" Jack offered lamely. He was hovering in the air, just as shocked as Astrid.

"How do I fix it?" she demanded frantically. "I can't control it!"

With those words, snow seemed to fall harder, and Astrid felt frost creep over her fingertips.

"I can't fix this!" Elsa threw her hands out, and nothing happened.

The wind howled, as if echoing Elsa's despair.
