At the very top of the Tower, there was a large room. It had a glass dome, with gold metal framework twisting through it. The room was circular, with the stairway entrance tucked in at the left side.

A few tables and shelves were spread throughout, but the main adornment was a raised circular platform in the very center. On the platform was a table that held a large crystal ball. The gods rarely appeared in physical form, and instead talked through the ball.

I glanced upward. It was nighttime, and moonlight was streaming in through the glass. There was a rumor that Moon's palace was on the actual moon. It was alabaster white, with gleaming towers and silver domes.

Of course, those were just rumors.

No one knew the actual truth.

Tooth was already leaping into action. She summoned a bolt of sparkly green magic and shot it into the crystal ball. She then began to chant.

I had been to a few councils where they summoned gods, but nothing like this. The room was completely empty except for Tooth and me. Before, it had always been filled with Elites.

This was illegal, I realized. Tooth did not have the actual authority to be requesting the gods. To be fair, the Elites were in complete chaos. I had broken so many rules in the past few months, that I didn't think it even mattered anymore.

For a few moments, nothing happened, and I wondered if the gods were too busy talking to Solen. He wasn't in Skyara and was instead in the North Pole, on some sort of official Elite mission.

Then, the crystal ball pulsed with gold light. Toothiana and I both knelt as a gesture of respect. Gold filled the opaque glass, but no face appeared. This was normal. The gods usually didn't show their physical form. I knew what they looked like since I had seen them three hundred years ago though.

"Ah, the Guardians," a feminine voice sounded, echoing through the chamber. "What is the meaning of this?"

It was Vana. Golden light meant it was either Vana or Goldred, the two gods that ruled the day side of things. Goldred was male and Vana was female, so it had to be Vana.

"My lady," Toothiana murmured. "We know this is not proper, but I had to speak with you."

"The gods are busy. Our lord is currently instructing your king. Why summon me?"

Privately, I thought that Goldred was the nicest of the gods. He was always cheerful, at least he had been three hundred years ago. Varda, though, goddess of the stars, was scary. Vana seemed alright, but a little too uptight and stiff.

"I have a private question, my lady," Tooth answered.

I could feel the displeasure radiating off Vana. She was not pleased with how the Elites had deteriorated over the past centuries. Before, we had been the picture of organization and leadership. Now, there were rebels, defectors, and spies everywhere.

"Speak," Vana said curtly. "Only one question. Bother me improperly again

"Pitch has taken the heir of Arendelle. How do we save her?" I cut in.

"Ah. Friendship," I could practically feel Vana's lip curling in disgust even though she was just a glowing ball of light. "Pitch is possessing her. She will be easy to find as Pitch is currently about to storm the city in her body. To save her however, is a completely different matter. Her soul is not strong enough to fight against a god and win. Soul magic is your only hope. Combine the Guardian's might, and they should be able to do it. Now, go. I do not have infinite patience, and I am done speaking of trivial manners. However, I will offer one more word of advice. Kill Elsa. It will be much easier than trying to save her soul."

With that, the crystal ball dimmed, and the light disappeared.

Tooth glanced at me.

I sighed, gripping my staff in one hand. "I think the world's about to end."
