02: detention

(August 11)

Mary turned the corner. She was emerging the great hall. She sat down quietly as she continued to write with her quill.

She was sitting on a bench. Hermione granger came next to her.

"Hello, Mary" Hermione smiled. Mary always liked Hermione. She was focused and brilliant.

There were people in there. Apparently it was the time to enroll into the tri- wizard championship.

A group of boys came in. Cedric Diggory and his friends. Cedric was pushed into the circle by his friends. He placed his name.

He turned to Mary. She smiled at him and waved. "Did you do it?" Hermione asked Mary. "No bloody way! I don't have a death wish" Mary giggled. She hadn't broken away from Cedric eye contact.

"I thought you hated quidditch boys, MJ" Ace said as he sat on the other side of her. She broke their eye contact. "If you don't shut your mouth the next thing to come out of it will be your teeth" Mary groaned at the boy.

Mary, Ace, and Diana were sitting in the slytherin common room. Mary was writing in her book. She had found a few things for the next paper.

Diana was combing her blonde hair. Ace was standing in the mirror admiring himself.

Ace had brown hair, dark eyes. (Search up Kol Mikaelson)

"Mary Jane, tell me how handsome I am" Ace told Mary smirking at himself in the mirror as he fixed his uniform.

"Oh kol, you know I don't like lying to you" Mary smirked. A few chuckles were heard. Draco and his minions were in the corner talking.

Then a girl stormed in. Annabelle Wall. She was crying. She rushed pass Diana. When she tried passing Mary. Mary grabbed her wrist.

She hadn't noticed Adrian Pucey and Marcus Flint walked in along with Graham Montague.

She realized a mark on her face. "Annabelle, who did that?" Mary asked. Annabelle covered it. "Mason cheated on me. When I tried to leave he.." Annabelle began.

Mary's heart dropped. He hit her.

Mary hugged Annabelle. "Everything's gonna be alright" Mary told her. "That's what my therapist says.." Annabelle sobbed.

They didn't care who was watching.

"Look darling, people are shitty. They will leave you broken. Somebody will pick up the pieces and then break you again." Mary began.

"But you, Annabelle Wall. You are intelligent, brave, beautiful, and kind" Mary began. Annabelle was now giving Mary a weak smile.

"You don't need an idiotic pig like him" Mary told her wiping her tears. "But I feel like such an idiot for still being in love with him!" Annabelle cried.

"Explain what happened darling" Ace said sitting next to them. "Mason told Juliet that he loved her..right in front of me" Annabelle began with sniffles.

"Annabelle, don't stress it, love" Diana said. "Listen, You're gonna fall in love so many times before you find the one you'll be with forever" Mary told her.

"So think of it this way, you're just one broken heart away from your happy ending" Mary said. Annabelle smiled at them.

Then the door opened. Mason Johns.

"You! You foul loathsome evil little cockroach!" Mary yelled as she stomped up to him. She then punched him.

"OH SHIT!" Ace yelled.

Mason got up angrily. He whipped out his wand.

Adrian shoved him back on the floor. "Put your bloody wand away, filthy bitch" Adrian told mason.

Mary and Adrian stood side by side.

"She was a whore anyway" mason scoffed. "Just like you Mary. Hey remember when you hooked up with-" mason began until mary kicked him again. He was now holding his stomach.

"What is going on.." Snape began before seeing the scene. Mary didn't care if she got in trouble.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Professor Snape asked. "Mason hit Annabelle, professor" Mary began.

"So you hit him..back?" Snape asked. "Of course I did! How dare he lay a hand on her!" Mary defended. "Violence is against the school rules, Miller" Snape told her.

"Mary and Pucey, detention tonight. Mason you've got detention for the next month" Snape said.

"That's barbaric!" Mason defended. "It is very shameful to abuse your girlfriend, mr. johns" Snape said. "If it happens again you will be expelled. Now go see Dumbledore!" Snape argued.

Snape favored Mary. She had a top grade in potions. Plus, she was a slytherin.

Adrian turned to see Mary. She also turned her head. She gave him a small smile. "Detention is in an hour. Please, make your way to hagrid. You will be doing detention with him tonight, Pucey and Miller" Snape said as he turned away.

After, mason was taken by Snape to Dumbledore. Ace had taken Annabelle to her dorm with Diana.

"Thank you" Mary told Adrian after everybody left. She had broken the silence. "For?" Adrian asked. "If he had casted any spell it most likely would've been quite a harmful one" Mary told him.

"Nobody should hit their partner" Adrian said. Mary nodded. "You are absolutely right" Mary told him. "Never knew you could beat somebody up"

Adrian chuckled at what he said. "Shut up, Pucey" Mary said she messed with his black hair. His hair was long. Not very long but it was straight and black.

She then turned. "We should go to hagrid's" Mary suggested. "Of course, lead the way m'lady" Adrian smirked.

As they walked through the corridors it was dark. It was about 7 pm. They passed a couple people snogging.
