          Both Cook and Freddie had decided on racing, to decide who was the better friend for JJ whilst kitty and JJ where down the road. Kitty had recognised that the boy was getting locked on and took it in her own hands to calm the boy down. Hugging him whilst whispering words of encouragement into his ear. Kitty thought the boys where acting like complete cocks to their best friend. Once JJ had promised Kitty he had calmed down, she headed back over to the race and saw Effy standing in the front row.

Kitty was mad at her too, she ran off with no explanation late at night in a town they had no recognition of and then told Freddie that Cook was in trouble. She was happy to see her cousin but it still got her frustrated. Cook tried to pull the girl over to him as he stood at the beginning of the race next to Freddie but she just shrugged him off and stood beside the other Stonem girl, crossing her arms and glaring at the teenage boys. Maybe she was a little bit more than mad at them right in that moment.

As the announcer started speaking, JJ walked out of the pub with a number on the front of his shirt. The girl smiled brightly at him, like a proud mother would. He was finally standing up for himself. After last years champion, the boy who was perving on Effy, was introduced he told the rules and then got four elders to jump on the boys backs which was an image that Kitty was sure to remember. The race then started and Effy turned to her cousin who's face had fell again.

"i know your mad at me kit" Effy spoke quietly

"no im not" Kitty scoffed and dropped her arms to her side, pulling her dress down a little

"i know your lying kitty, why are you mad" Effy asked

"maybe its to do with the fact you just disappeared in the middle of the night and i had no clue where you were or maybe its to do with the fact that you called Freddie to tell him that Cook was in trouble and now the fuckers are fighting over who's JJs friend or maybe its the fact that if cook looses this then he is royally fucked because Freddie will take both of us back home" Kitty ranted, refusing to look at the slightly shorter girl. 

"i didn't mean to kitty, i was scared okay" Effy told her cousin and only got a scoff in response, clearly finishing the conversation. Kitty knew she would talk to Effy later but for now, she was allowed to be mad. The sun was setting when each of the boys came back into view, Cook and Donny pretty much fighting whilst JJ stayed back, until he wasn't and JJ broke through the finish line. Kitty cheered loudly and ran over to him, giving him a bear hug along with all the elderly's.

After all the celebrating outside, the whole town crowded into the pub. JJ and Kitty stood on the stool together. JJ had a homemade medal around his neck and Kitty was hugging him whilst everyone else chanted his name or clapped. Kitty was extremely proud of the boy. Meanwhile, cook was sat at the bar staring at the two in jealousy. He was imagining if Kitty would have been like that if he had won or if she would have acted as if it was nothing important. One of the crowd members handed kitty a freshly made pint of beer and she chugged it, leading to more cheers.

"you fucking dick" Cook pushed JJ backwards from the stool making Kitty stumble back to as she was holding onto the boy "you've lost my dads boat" Cook flicked JJs head "kitty" another flick.

"cook dont" Kitty raised her eyebrow but he didn't listen

"I've got fuck all now" Cook flicked his forehead again but instead of saying something, JJ just grabbed his finger. A quiet clicking noise catching the girls ears.

"This is the wushu finger hold. I learnt it in a book. Of a film" JJ told his supposed best mate

"J lets just leave it now" Freddie walked over, taking kitty's spot beside JJ. Again JJ just grabbed his finger, Kitty knew what could happen so she just stood their with a smirk on her face

"im pretty sure if i apply the correct pressure, your eyes pop out" JJ states. The boys both trying to pull away from his grip but JJ wasn't budging "lets not air our dirty laundry in public. You too" He signalled for the two girls to follow as he lead the boys out of the pub and into the back room. JJ set up two chairs out of random things he found and told the girls to sit down. Kitty and Effy shared a glance, both with a ghost of a smile on their lips because of how stupid their current situation feels.

"boys i appreciate the love but im not really into the group sex thing, tried it once and im never doing it again" Kitty stated, holding her hands up in a surrender. Cooks eyes seemed to widen at her confession making her wink at him, despite the seriousness of the whole thing, everyone chuckled at the comment.

"now lets get down to it" JJ spoke once everyone had settled down "no more evasion, no more 'ooh im so fit and mysterious' or 'ooh-' i cant think of anything for you" JJ mocked Effy but couldn't exactly mock Kitty "Now, Freddie, hes in love with you. aren't you Freddie" JJ asked the boy, directing his statement to Effy whilst Freddie nodded "and cook, he loves you kit. yes?" Cooks grin widened as he nodded "and just or the record i love you too. Both of you but kitty is more platonic"

"love you too JJ" She blew the curly haired boy a kiss

"thing is, you two love different people" JJ pointed at cook and Freddie "so really what's the problem between you both. If anyone should be fighting its me and freds. We both love Effy"

"i think the thing is J, they both love you. Your their best friend and sometimes its hard sharing your best friend. They both need you more than they need us but because Cook, well before this trip, was fucked up because he thought i loved Jaeden and Freddie was dating Katie whilst being head over heels for Ef their minds were everywhere. This trip changed all of us, Effy figured her feelings out and i sure as hell did too so, for you, i think this gets a lot easier from here" Kitty rambled, each of them listening intently as she spoke the facts everyone was scared admitting to.

"fuck all of yous" Cook suddenly spat "by the way J, your best mate made a bet on you. Real nice aint it."

"cook!" Kitty shouted back, jumping up and blocking the door from him leaving.
