Staring back at you
With no guilt or remorse
Hiding the pain
Living your life
Keeping your promises
Always catching up to you
Holding the memories of the past
And the consequences of the future
It's you, but lurking within
Embracing your struggles
But as broken as you
Falling behind
You hide in the corner alone
Afraid
Of what you and your shadow have become
But when darkness falls, you're reminded of the fact
That without shadows, we'd never see the light
