(Y/N)'s Pov

The sun is setting by the time Hange and I finish with our experiments. Well our first set of experiments anyway. There's so much more we want to do that Hange says that first thing tomorrow we're coming back out here again and continuing on. I'll admit, the prospect makes me very happy. I finish putting away the equipment we used and walk over to Hange. She's still making notes in the journal. A small smile sits on her face, bringing out the little dimples on her cheeks. Her glasses are slightly askew from a close call with Bean earlier. She looks kinda cute. As I go to stand beside her my stomach grumbles and I realise that we've both completely forgotten dinner. Hange and I look at each other at the same time, realisation dawning on our faces. Then Hange's stomach growls and we both start laughing.

"Oh this happens to me all," Hange laughs. "Don't worry, let's go get some food. The kitchen will be open anyway."

We walk to the kitchen, chatting about the results of our experiments and what we're going to do tomorrow. Hange is so excited about it, it's refreshing, a nice change from everyone else who dismisses my curiosity as craziness. I've a feeling Hange feels the same. When we arrive at the kitchen it's open - as Hange predicted. We push open the door and switch on the light. I've never been in the HQ kitchen before, it's a lot messier than I thought it would be. Hange opens the door to the fridge and pulls out a container of what looks like today's leftover dinner. She takes off the lid and a rancid smell fills the air. The substance inside is grey and unidentifiable. Hange coughs and wrinkles her nose and I try not to pull a face.

"What is that?" I ask

Hange closes the container in disgust and puts it back in the fridge. "I don't know but it's definitely not edible." She grins at me. "No matter, we'll just have to make something ourselves."

I nod, looking around the kitchen. "Like what?"

Hange scratches her chin, thinking. "What about cupcakes?"

"I don't think that's a very nutritious dinner, Hange," I laugh.

"So?"

"Good point."

Hange starts fiddling around the kitchen, taking out the flour and eggs and other ingredients. I set up the bowel and weighing scales, then take out a chopping board and bread. I start making sandwiches with the leftover edible food from dinner.

Hange frowns at me, flour somehow already dusting her nose. She's weighing out the ingredients. "What are you doing?" she asks. "Those aren't cupcakes."

"No," I say, handing her the plate. "They're sandwiches. I figured we should eat something that's at least somewhat filling and healthy while we make the cupcakes." We haven't eaten since lunch and I know if we just have cupcakes we'll feel sick after. I don't want that happening.

"Oh, ok!" Hange says and takes a sandwich, chewing on it while she breaks the eggs into the bowel. I watch her for a second, she's so concentrated. It's funny and maybe a little adorable. I start mixing all the ingredients together. Hange pours the eggs in and then gets the flour and starts pouring that in too.

"Wait, Hange!" I say, taking the flour out of her hand. Hange looks at me in confusion. I pick of the sieve and wave it her face. "There's a sieve for a reason." I start sieving the flour into the bowel and Hange frowns at me. "See," I say. "You need to be precise. Honestly, you call yourself a scientist," I tease.

Hange clutches a hand to her heart in mock outrage. "How dare you, (Y/N)!"

I raise a brow at her. "You have flour on your face."

"Oh yeah?" Hange says. She reaches into the bag of flour by her side and pinches some between her fingers. She throws it into my face. "So do you."
