Hange's Pov

It's been a week since (Y/N) and I fell asleep under the stars, neither of us have mentioned it since then but it was best night sleep I've had in a long time. She hasn't mentioned anything about what happened at the party either but she seems to be back to her old self. I don't want to push her about it but I worry. Hopefully she'll come to me with it eventually.

I walk down the hall to my office, tray of tea and biscuits in hand. It's late and (Y/N) and I are planning to stay up later. We've tons more work left to do before our expedition next week. We're going to test out our new corrosive and try capture an abnormal. I'm so excited. I'm also thinking of having (Y/N) transferred over to my squad officially, I mean, it would make sense and make things easier, since we already work together so much anyway. Although, I don't know how I feel about me being, like, officially her captain and superior, I like the way our relationship is now, as equals. I don't want to mess that up.

I sigh and continue on, mind straying to (Y/N)'s face earlier today when our experiment was successful. She gets the cutest dimples when she smiles. I get closer to my office and then pause. Listening hard. A voice drifts down the hall, singing a song I've never heard before. It's beautiful. I creep closer in the direction of the voice and my mouth pops open when I realise it's coming from my office. It's (Y/N), (Y/N) is singing. I keep quiet and listen just outside the door. She's amazing. I never knew she had such a lovely voice. The melody brings a smile to my face and makes butterflies take flight in my stomach. I poke my head around the door, (Y/N) is cleaning out a breaker, singing quietly to herself. I bite my lip and walk inside. "(Y/N)?"

(Y/N)'s eyes snap up to mine and she jolts, dropping the beaker in fright, her mouth clamps shut.

I chuckle. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you."

(Y/N) blushes and looks away quickly, bending down to pick up the shattered beaker fragments. "It's all right," she mumbles. "Sorry about the beaker."

I set the tray down and crouch to help her clean up. "Don't worry about it." I swallow as our hands brush against each other. "I didn't know you could sing, you have a lovely voice," I tell her.

(Y/N)'s Pov

I. Am. Mortified.

Hange heard me singing. I bite the inside of my cheek and try to clean up the broken beaker as quick as I can. I've never sang in front of anyone before, never told anyone that I liked to sing either. I'm so embarrassed I think I might implode. I just want to run away and hide, or for the ground to swallow me up whole. I glance over at Hange, her hair has fallen into her face and I have to repress the urge to tuck it behind her ear.

"...you have a lovely voice," she tells me.

I stiffen, gulping. "Oh, yeah, thanks."

We both stand and dump the shards in the bin. I run a hand through my hair, looking for something to distract Hange from the whole singing thing.

"How come you never told me you could sing?" Hange asks, pouring us both cups of tea.

I blow a breath out through my nose, shifting uncomfortably on my feet. "Oh, I... I don't know... I just..."

Hange's Pov

(Y/N) trails off, squinting around the room. I instantly feel bad. She looks so uncomfortable, I never realised that she might feel self-conscious about her singing. It's just so good I never... oh I don't like this. I don't like her this uncomfortable, I hate it. I need to fix this... but how?

(Y/N)'s Pov

Hange's face clouds over in her thinking expression. She's noticed my discomfort. She watches me for a moment, then her face lights up. She beams at me.
