Shit. Licia thought as she bit the inside of her mouth keeping her gaze steady on the ground."We think it's what's best for you" Her mother, Lydia sympathetically replied, "Your getting better at your school work and it's definitely time you learn how to socialise with people your age"
Licia looked at her mother pleadingly as she opened her mouth retaliate, quickly cut off by her father.
"Yes and also with all of the after school activities we have you signed up too, it will be even easier to get you into a good collage. You know, like extra coi- coin? Merit? Merit points!"
Walter beamed down at her."I have enough hobbies and do enough sports as it is, and I have friends. Also dad, didn't you mention something about having ties with Yale?" Licia quickly fired back, hoping to alter their decision, "I can go there once I've finished my homeschooling!"
"Come on Lici" Her dad pleaded, "Go for the first week and if it's a complete no go, it's a complete no go, but I warn, we will enrol you in a boarding school instead which means only seeing us during summer, winter and spring break. So choose wisely, doll,"
"But Dad, if I go won't have any time to be-" Licia quickly cleared her throat, correcting herself, "To do my super-curricular activities!" Plus - that dress fitting is on the first day of school - and I can't miss the first day of school!"
"Yes babe that's all sorted, we're already booked for two sessions, we'll just have to go after school." Lydia said, with a slight taste of victory on her tongue.
"Now" Walter started, trying to avert the subject to anything but Licias new school, "You should be off to bed! Goodnight sweetheart" he rested her hands on Licia's shoulders and spun her around to face the grand stairway.
The teenager sighed audibly as she kept her vision glued to the stone floor. She liked the hotel, the one her family owned, she liked watching fancy guests parade around in their ballgowns, wishing she'd be one of them one day. She didn't want to go to a public school, from what her cousin had told her, it was torture! They had to do homework and get bathroom passes, it was crazy she thought. But knowing since her parents had already made their decision and there was definitely no arguing with them about changing it, she bit the side of her cheek and accepted defeat.
"Life's so unfair" Licia whined as she plodded to her bedroom door, leaning her head on it lazily and clumsily reaching for the handle. Stupidly, she turned the handle and the door swung open at an alarmingly fast rate, allowing no time for her to push herself up from the door, the equalled her falling through the doorframe and lying flat on her face.
She groaned pushing herself up and slamming the door with her foot, "it couldn't get any worse" she said as she collapsed back onto her bed.

*Ping* As Licia heard that she quickly scurried up from her bed, reaching for her phone on her bedside table. She opened the message and it was from her older cousin, Gillian, whom she wasn't massively fond of.
Gillian Hardy:
Walter told me you were coming to Midtown.
I'm omw to yours and taking you the mall so we can
pick you up a school bag and lanyard.
Uncle Walter told me to btw.She groaned again, as she put down her phone and got out of her bed.
