Chapter Tres

Otter was exhausted. From school, to work, to her barely there social life, Otter really had no time to relax. One of her friends, the same one that set her up on the date, suggested that she go to a spa. Not thinking anything of it, Otter accepted the all day spa ticket.

Ordering an Uber to come at the ass crack of dawn, she called into work saying she would be taking a day off. That night as Otter laid in bed, she closed her eyes and dreamt of how relaxing tomorrow would be.

-----

Birds chirped and sang. Otter opened her eyes, the light softly illuminating her face. She felt oddly refreshed and happy.

Just kidding.

The motherfucking sun burst through her windows, the birds were screaming bloody murder, and some random fucking child was very loudly wailing. She groaned in annoyance, pain jolting her nerves as she stretched.

A certain feeling lingered in the air,as if something was going to go awry. Shaking off the sensation, Otter tripped out of her bed and stumbled to the bathroom.

Three pm came sooner than she expected having spent the day lounging in pajamas and watching Netflix. While slipping on some casual clothes, Otter ordered the Uber. Oddly enough she was excited, the only other times she had been to a spa were unpleasant as she had been quite literally dragged there.

Pleasantries with the driver were exchanged, and she admired the scenery outside when the drive droned on. The drive seemed very long, and they even exited the city, moving closer to the suburbs.

-----
Turning left, the car started down a long pathway lined with dirt. Picking at her fingers, Otter held a nervous sigh. She wasn't ungrateful for the ticket her friend gave her but the location was very...odd

They were surrounded by miles upon miles of forest, only passing by one other town. Looking at the building itself, she was surprised at how nice it was. Standing at two stories high, the outside had a small porch, a sign saying "Cleansing the Heart Spa", and several plants lining the railing.

While she was a little weirded out, Otter tipped the driver and headed to the entrance of the establishment. At the front desk was a woman with tightly slicked back blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and a 1970's looking dress.

"Welcome." greeted the woman robotically.

Muttering back a greeting, Otter followed the lady back to the hot spring. She was lead to an..interesting looking bathroom. It was tiled all the way to the ceiling with mythological figures. Some of them were very different, one man depicted as a demon biting a lady's leg off. Brushing it off, Otter changed into her towel and patiently waited at the entrance to the spring.

An attendant around her height allowed her in, the steam hitting her face immediately. Easing into the warm water, she sighed. This is exactly what she needed..

At her side were complimentary beverages and snacks that came with the spa package. Taking a fizzy soda, she took a long sip out of it. After a while she sunk down into the water, closing her eyes.

Otter was feeling a little sleepy, but she just chalked it up to the comforting atmosphere. More and more time passed by and Otter was finding it hard to keep herself awake.

She slipped into the water and jolted up coughing. When her eyes were fully opened, she noticed she couldn't focus her eyes. And thinking about it, Otter felt a pounding in her brain. Little black spots filled her vision, and she drifted off into slumber. Before her eyes completely blacked out she saw the outline of a figure walking up to her.
