━━ chapter iii. disparity
KAZUKO STARES AT GOJO. And she thinks of change. How the all powerful force of nature never seems to affect him. Never gets to him. Like the layer of Limitless surrounding him wards that particular phenomena too. As usual, he's dressed in an ensemble of black courtesy of the school uniform. Circle, tinted glasses propped upon his nose. A smirk is perched on his face, hands buried in his pockets and the other clutching a paper bag.
"Who was that frail looking guy?"
Kazuko knits her eyebrows together, taking note of the depreciating language he used to describe the person. "Kiyoshi?"
"First name basis during the first semester?" He clicks his tongue. "How cute."
There was nothing offensive with his words, but the way he said it made her shoot him a glare. "He says we should get rid of the formalities since we'll be in the same class until the end of high school."
"You never know who gets killed off Kazu," he says and opens the paper bag, extracting what seems to be dorayaki. The scent of red bean wafts over the air. Kazuko knows better than to ask for a piece, she knows that Gojo was not the type of person to share. "It happens to background characters quite often."
"Don't call him a background character. Also, please don't call me Kazu."
Gojo smiles. Fake like the rest of those smiles he plasters on his immaculate face. Tiny expressions hiding so many things by the simple curls of his lips. "You can call me Satoru so we're fair."
Kazuko sighs. Kazu was a more preferable nickname than twerp, but the thought of being buddy buddy with Gojo Satoru made her entire system violently shudder. "I have no interest in such thing."
"Oh... so you have interest in Kiyo-whatshisname."
Her brows furrow deeper. What's with him bringing up Kiyoshi at every turn of the conversation? Has he fallen in love with him or something? She wouldn't judge. Love was love anyways. She looks at him. At his facade of smiley faces and taunting tones. Remembers the way he looked during that time at the cult. Was Gojo Satoru even capable of love?
"It's Kiyoshi." She chooses to correct him anyways. "Kamo Kiyoshi."
Gojo raises a brow. It's almost unnoticeable with those glasses covering his eyes. "Kamo?"
"He's from one of the three great families," Kazuko informs.
"I'm from one of the three great families." He raises the hand stuffed inside his pockets and begins enumerating using his fingers. "Zen'in, Kamo, and Gojo." At the final last name, he points a thumb at himself, one of those overly sweet smiles plastered on his face.
"I know that," Kazuko says. It feels like he's bragging so he supplies him with information that would probably put poor Kiyoshi at his level. "He's a first cousin of the main branch so he gets to use the family name. He's an important figure in their clan."
"I'm the heir of the Gojo clan."
Kazuko sighs. "I know that too, Gojo-san. I don't see why you keep bringing unecessary things up."
"Satoru."
"No."
Gojo takes a bite of the dorayaki. "Understandable, but I'll still call you Kazu."
It was a stupid move to engage in a conversation with him in the first place; Kazuko should have went on her merry way and pretended that he didn't exist. Now she's pissed beyond belief and her fists are craving violence. He never changes, she thinks. Always obnoxious. Always coaxing so much irritation from her system. She walks faster, but Gojo's long legs give him advantage so he catches up within seconds.
