"Adelaide! wake up!" I hear my dad call from the kitchen. I groaned as I sat up. I took a shower, well stood in the water for 20 minutes, then actually showered. I put on some grey sweatpants, a white crop top, a plaid jacket and a lock necklace. (like the picture above.) I walked into a messy living room, Coors beer cans all over the floor and a stench of beer. my dad was frying some bologna, he threw a slice on the plate and slid it over to me.

"bologna again?" I complained picking at the meat. this was the 5th time this week I have had burnt bologna for breakfast.

"well it's this or nothing, we have expired meat but you're not eating that." he said back almost in a whiney voice.

I put all Dad's beer cans in a garbage bag, well two garbage bags. yep, it was that bad. "here take one." I said as I handed dad a bag. we headed outside to take them out when a tall Hispanic kid with brown hair and braces approached us.

"Hey, I'm Miguel! my family and I just moved into 109." he greeted us excitedly.

"great more immigrants." dad said carelessly.

"dad!" I said slapping his arm. "sorry, about that. I'm Adelaide, this is my dad johnny. he isn't a people person." I continued holding my hand out to shake the Hispanic boy's hand. he had a wide smile on his face.

"anyways." Miguel started, "I was wondering if you were having trouble with your water pressure, 'cause I know our sinks being a little weird right now and-" he stopped mid-sentence when he notices my dad throwing the recycling in the wrong bin, "oh, bottles go in the blue bin." my dad continues to throw it in the bin.

"listen Menudo... I have lived in this sh*thole for over 10 years. The pipes don't work. The fountain's full of piss. And the only good thing about being here is I dont have to talk to anyone, apart from my daughter. so nice knowing you." my dad says walking away. I stayed back because I know he was off to work.

"oh well... have a nice day I guess." Miguel said disappointedly.

"sorry Miguel, he is... he is just, not one to interact with people." he nodded his head and smiled. "you know what. ima call you Miggy. can I call you that? cool! see you later Miggy." I smiled and walked back into my apartment. I wanted to clean it up even though my dad was probably going to mess it up the next morning, I did it anyway. after that, I decided to do some online shopping, get some clothes for the new school year coming up.

the day passed by and dad came home, "Adelaide! come on we're going to get pizza." he yelled. I closed my laptop and headed downstairs and saw my dad holding a beer can, he was slightly drunk. I sighed walking over to dad taking the beer can outta his hand and throwing it away. "nope. we aren't doing that, you have to drive me to the mini-mart and I want to be alive by the end of the night." he completely ignored my words and we left the house.

"I got fired from my job today." dad said randomly when the song 'kickstart my heart' by Mötley Crüe came to an end. my jaw slightly dropped, I wasn't too surprised but I was still upset.

"why? what happened?" I asked turning my head to face him.

"I got fired because of some bitch, she told me to put the tv on the wall across from the door so I did. then she told me that it was supposed to go on the wall across from the other door. so I told her to stop bitching at me, and she freaked out. I also took a crap in her powder room, which she said that's where I was supposed to go." my dad finished his mouthful of words.

"oh." was all I could say without laughing.

we walked into the mini-mart where the pizza stand was, "those two." my dad said pointing at two slices of pizza. the guy grabbed the two with his bare hands.
