Chapter 12

The next morning I woke up and got dressed. I ate breakfast with my new family. Then at 10:30 I went upstairs and knocked on the door and Darren opened the door. "Good morning. Come on in. I was getting things ready for the 11:00 meeting."

"I can help. What do you need help with?"

"I am right now putting some finishing touches on a PowerPoint display. Can you set up the coffee and pull the sodas out. Everyone can get drinks as needed. Then the Martinez will have sandwiches for everyone at 12:30." I set up the drinks on the table where he pointed and he went back to his computer. Before long we had many more people arriving.

Darren cleared his throat and everyone stopped talking and sat down. "It was been a very interesting 24 hours. I just finished my report about 10 minutes ago.  Dad has been following Mr. Riddles. When he left here he went back to his house and about 3 hours ago he took off with packed suitcases. He caught a plane to Europe and Dad did arrange for a couple pack members to be on that flight.  Him and mom said he is running. He did contact some allies who will pick up his trail there. He said he linked Alpha Cassidy this information. Then him and mom were heading to bed. He said interesting that Joan's foster parents also got in the same flight. They were flying first class and Riddles was flying economy."

I said in a shocked voiced, "Chuck and Courtney left the country?"

Darren replied, "yes. They will have tails also once they land. Now, after the judge left I followed him. I used an alternate scent spray, so I would not smell like wolf. He went into a hotel in town. I had a couple of our under covers go in. The judge met up at 7:30 with a known rogue leader: Lyle Stubbles.  Then I followed him home. I do have a tail on him now. Well our under covers did follow Lyle and  we had others swap out throughout the evening.

At 10:30 last night he was at the theater. He met with Leonardo Wesson whom we know is a vampire.  They discussed that Riddles and the judge failed to get the package."

He looked at me when I whimpered, "why?"

Pa, both grandparents, my uncle, brothers, and alphas all started saying, "don't know" "we will keep you safe" "don't worry about them. You got family now."

Darren said, "I know the connection."

Everyone got quiet and looked at him. "He is a distant cousin and a hybrid. There was an Alpha named Theodore Rice. He was mate with Katrina. He had three sons who were

triplets. There names were Marvin, Melvin and Marcel. Marvin decided he wanted to move from Europe to America. His mate Cassie came with him. A few other families joined him and this was the start of Somerset Pack in the states."

Clinton stood up, "how come we have no history of Melvin or Marvin?"

Xavier spoke up, "my son is right there is no mention of them in our family tree."

Darren spoke up, "I will get there Alpha and Elder Rice." They nodded.  "Do you want the pups to hear  the ancestry to their generation?"

Clinton said, "go ahead and share. Since three of them never heard it before."

Darren nodded, "Marvin and Cassie arrived with their son, Timothy. What they did was automatically head west and deeper into the woods. The area they settled in became part of the Somerset Pack Territory. Soon other packs also set up and allies were formed.  Later on Timothy met his mate Jolene. They did have a large family, and  their son Salem became the alpha. Salem mate was named Mary. They had a son Edward and he mated Brittany."

Amelia jumped up and screeched, "that is great grandpa and grandma."

Jack said, "we also have great grandparents?"

Clinton growled, "Amelia we are inside. No reason to scream like that." Then he turned toward Jack, "yes, they are both still alive. They are in their late 80's and early 90s." He then turned toward Darren, "pardon my daughter. Please continue."

"Next generation is now in this room. They are your grandparents and your uncle." He nods to each of them. "Now back to Alpha Theodore Rice he gave the pack to Melvin and Marcel to jointly run when Marvin decided he wanted to travel.  I have not found if Melvin found a mate, but Marvin found a mate. Her name was Maribelle Stubbles. She was pregnant with a pup when she got attacked by a vampire by the name of Vincent Vanderbilt and his clan. He did kill Melvin and Marvin. Theodore killed Vincent about a year later after tracking him down. He found that Maribelle was alive and had been bit many times. He asked her about the pup and was informed the pup was born a hybrid. The pup had picked up the vampire venom. She had started to go crazy and change. She attacked Theodore. He ended up having to kill her and he never did find his grandchild. This is when the rest of the pack moved over, but no more mention of the brothers after that in the archives.

Well Salem started having problems with vampires. They were coming over from Europe. He killed several. That was when the war took place and they said a hybrid was leading it. Salem did kill several according to the archives I dug into. There was mixed stories some said he killed the hybrid and others say their leader went back to Europe."

"Why is he after me?"

"I think because your a hybrid.  Now another interesting fact I came across a family name, Wesley. They are known as protectors of supernaturals. I think she was keeping you all safe until her death.

In your basement the trackers found a secret room and there were bags of blood. I think Chuck and Courtney were turned into vampires, and witchcraft was keeping their scent hidden. Plus that is also keeping your scent disguised. That could explain Shawn O'Connor being seen with Lyle Stubbles."

Alpha Cassidy spoke up, "we knew Lyle has been around this area about 40 years and has been trouble on and off. Just did not know he had family or was a hybrid. We knew he was a wolf. You are telling us that Lyle Stubbles is distant family to the Rice family?"

"Does he know I have two brothers or there is a possibility my sisters are alive?"
