In Search of the Truth (complete)

Chapter 40

I woke up shaking. I looked over and saw my sister was sitting up having too. My brother had his arms around her trying to calm her down. She made eye contact with me. "Let's go to the river. I need to try to contact Jane." I gave her a puzzling look, but quietly got up.  She looked at Giovanni and said, "we need to do this on our own."

He looked hurt and then  whispered replied,  "the river is not under the shielded you help make., I am going. I can watch the perimeter while you do what you need to do." We walk out.

Darren and khan our awake. They are linking each other. They hear us come out of the tent. "Is everything ok," Darren ask?

Jean replies, "I am going to the river to try to contact my sister."

Joan replies, "we both just woke up shaking. Something is wrong."

Khan ask, "how will going to the river help? It isn't safe out there."

Jean replies, "since I was a kid Jean and I could talk through reflections in water. I honestly thought it was an imaginary friend as I got older, but realized now it was my sister. Every now and then I could see Joan too. She never responded. I figured it was because she was not raiserd around magic."

Joan looked shocked. "I was told they were just dreams about you two. That it was best to ignore those dreams according to the psychologist my foster parents made me go see."

"Let's go." Khan said. "Darren you continue watch, but Mitch and Shelley will relieve you soon. When we get back we will wake up others, eat and head out."

"Yes alpha king." Darren replied.

Jean replies, "we don't need all the body guards. Gio is already coming with us to guard the perimeter."

Khan replies, "now you got two. There are hunters still close by. We don't know where Lyle is. You got us." Then turns and walks toward the river. The girls sigh and follow.

They get near the river. The king looks at Giovanni , "stay here. I will scout the area first. If safe you two can come down."

He slips out of sight as we sit behind a bush waiting. Then about ten minutes later he calls out, "come on out. No one's in the area."

Jean looks at the guys, "you stay here."  She leans over and grabs Joan's hands. They walk up to the water. Jean chants a few words. Then reflected in the water they see Jane crying.  Jean whispers, "Jane?"

Jane looks around startled. Jean realized Jane is chained to a tree. Jane looks down and sees a small puddle of water from where the canteen had spilled. She sees both her sisters. She looks around to make sure no one is near her,  "Jean, he absorbed them. All my friends are gone. He killed them." She breaks down into tears again.

"Jane don't cry. We are coming. We will rescue you," Jean replied.

Jane whispers, "no. He wants you. Then he wants to find our other sister too."

Jean replied, "Joan is with me." She pulls Joan forward, "Jean meet Joan."

Jane gasp, "I'm not seeing double vision?" She looks around again, "don't come after me. He wants all three of us. He will absorb us and claims he will have ultimate power. Stay away.  Find our last spot we camped. That will tell you his plans. Just let the kings and queens know, but you two stay away."

Joan whispers in a choked voice, "we cannot. You are one of us. We will get you."

Then they see a man appear behind her. Before they can warn her he speaks, "yes, come to me. You are my family and we will be able to rule this world."

All three girls gasp, "Lyle."

Jean then adds in a menacing voice, "oh we will come and if she is harmed you won't live to see the next sunrise."

He reaches down and smacks Jane. Then they lost connection.
