The Party

After I gave Asuka her coffee, we went our separate ways for the morning. Hopefully she will snap out of that tired state long enough in order to take the pictures for the yearbook. It would be difficult if the school's main photographer couldn't do her job.

We would then have to ask one of the amateur photographers, and the pictures wouldn't turn out as good as we would have liked. Although I still haven't found out why she couldn't stay for the party after she finished her work.

When she wants to keep something quiet, she knows how to dodge questions with ease. I will find out what she is hiding though, one way or another, she will tell me.

Asuka was helping set up the decorations along with the event committee, even though she didn't have to. She's an odd one, but I suppose it can be refreshing to see.

"Hey Gakushu, can you hand me that streamer?"

I picked up the streamer, holding it out for her, which she grabbed and began hanging it up on the ceiling.

"You didn't have to help decorate for the party, you know."

"I know that, but I need to do something while I wait for everyone to show up. Might as well do something productive, instead of just standing around and talking to you, Mr. Asano."

I scoffed, shaking my head at her nature. She truly just has to do something decent for the people around her, doesn't she?

"Why do you even bother help doing something like this?"

"I don't know, I don't like standing still. It might also have something to do with my last cup of coffee."

"How many cups did you have today?"

"Uh, I lost count of how many after ten in the morning. There's a good possibly that I have drank more than five cups, but don't take my word for it."

"How are you able to stand still while stringing up decorations?"

"I have no idea! Maybe talking to you and doing this at the same time is helping mellow me out. Who knows?"

I sighed, shaking my head as I watched Asuka get off of the ladder slowly, making sure that she wouldn't fall to the floor. She then ran to the other end of the room, grabbing a banner, then ran back towards our side of the room.

"Alright, will you help me hang this up!? The people will start showing up in less than an hour, so we need to be speed demon quick!"

I chuckled, grabbing one end of the banner and began hanging it up as she did the same, making sure that it was at the same level.

"You know, you should help out more. I think people would be more willing to help you with stuff, if you just help them."

"But I don't need to ask them for help, when I can just give a speech and show off a bit."

I heard Asuka giggle, as I pinned the banner on the wall.

"That won't always work, you know. I definitely know it won't work on Sakura and her boyfriend."

"I don't need to do that for those two."

"Cause you are going to up against Akabane during mid terms and the finals, while you're trying to get over Sakura, right?"

"Would you keep that quiet?"

"Sorry, but I think you can do better than Sakura. Don't get me wrong, she's great, but she is definitely not your type. She wouldn't be able to handle you when you get carried away with showing off, or how you don't show your emotions, even when you're just with one person,"

Asuka explained, while I felt my eyebrow twitch at what she said. Is she trying to piss me off?

"Then who would,"

I questioned, holding back the sarcasm I wanted to let slip.

"I don't know, someone who actually understands you. Sakura isn't going to be that person, no matter how hard she tries. She was made to be with Akabane, even if they don't show off their relationship, if that makes sense. You deserve something that makes you equally happy, if not even more happy."

I didn't say anything to that, considering that no one has ever said that to me to my face. They wouldn't say something like that to me, but she has no problem with saying whatever she thinks around me. In a way, it's refreshing and disturbing at the same time.

She has no problem saying what she wants for other people, which is something I've seen with the time I've spent with her. What the hell am I thinking about? I shook my head, and strung up the banner finally, then finished helping set up with Asuka.

I made friendly conversation with the other students that attended the party, while I kept an eye on Asuka who was doing what she does best. She took pictures of people dancing, eating food, and having a good time.

I soon saw her talking to Sakura and Akabane, a smile on her face. I watched Sakura and Asuka interact, seeing Asuka pointing at her camera then at the two. Sakura looked back to Akabane, who nodded his head.

She must have asked the two for a photo. She then had them stand in position, and she was about to take a photo, when Sakura said something to Asuka who stopped. Asuka shook her head, waving her hand in front of her face.

She finally took the picture, then the couple left and she continued what she was doing before. I finally felt relief flood through me for some reason, and I went back to socializing with the guests.

As the night went on, I saw Asuka walk over to me while she yawned. She must have had the coffee crash hitting her now, she did have a lot of energy thanks to all the coffee that she drank.

"Hey Gakushu, I'm heading home now. I'll see you next week on Monday, alright?"

"Alright, I'll walk you home."

She furrowed her brows at me, confusion evident in her expression.

"Why? You have to stay and continue being the student body president."

"You can't walk home by yourself this late, it's dangerous at night."

"I know how to take care of myself. Don't worry about that, I'll call you when I get home, how about that?"

"Alright, don't forget in your tired state."

"I won't. See you Monday, Gakushu!"

I watched her walk out of the room, heading towards her home for the evening. She truly is going to make me worry about her, isn't she?
