Shortly after my return home, I was diagnosed with PTSD, so I took a short leave of absence. Shortly thereafter, Spencer and I moved in together. It was tough being alone in that small apartment while he was away on cases, but he called me as often as he could. Eventually, when I went back to work, I had a newfound sense of determination and will to help people.

What happened in San Diego had also reconnected me with my old friends. Whenever I had time off now, I'd fly to San Diego to spend some time with Tony, Simon, and Lisa. It was wonderful learning about their lives and who they had become. Lisa was a lawyer with a loving husband and a two-year-old daughter. Tony was a chef at a restaurant that he had opened himself. Simon was an art teacher at a local middle school. We had a group chat where we would talk about how things were going in our lives.

Emily had become like a sister to me. From the moment that she caught me and Spencer kissing, I knew things would be different between us, and they were. She was there for me to talk to whenever I needed her. She kind of reminded me of Abby, if I was being honest. We became so close, in fact, that she helped me choose what ring I would propose to Spencer with.

He said yes. And then we said I do.
