2 Lies and a Vanishing Act

POV third

Julius books it straight behind a wall before peering to the side of it. Seeing nothing, he presses a button on his communicator.

Julius: *quietly* "Leader, central, standing by. Report in."

Wanda: *quietly* "Witch, east side, standing by. No signs of the cargo plane yet."

Pietro: *quietly* "Speed here, rendezvoused with Witch. Didn't see anyone either. Not even civilians."

Tony: "Do I really have to!?"

Julius: "wanna head back and clean the tower's gutters?"

Tony: *sighs* "... Tin, nothing in the air either..."

You, Elle, and Clint run to the west side of the town, with Clint high above on top of the buildings, while you and Elle stayed close to the ground, her staying as close to you as possible.

Julius: "Hawks, what about you and Blade?"

Clint: "... Nothing here either... It's like the whole town became a ghost town out of nowhere..."

Julius: *sighs* "... Ok, you two head North, I'll meet you there. Witch, Speed, and Tin, head back to the jet, try to get in contact with Fury so he knows what's going on."

With Elle close behind, you sprinted towards the north end of town, with Clint right behind. Meanwhile Wanda uses her magic to create a telepathy link between everyone so it'd be easier to stay in contact while Pietro carries her to the jet.

Once you three get to the north section, you and Elle stayed hidden as Clint took a look around with his binoculars until Julius met back up with you. Once reunited, you and Julius ran into the center of the section while Elle stays hidden, though close by.

Julius: *still looking around, holding his blades while standing back to back with you* "... Where's the cargo plane?... It should be here by now?..."

Y/n: "..." *Keeps hands on his blades*

As you two waited, something caught Elle's eyes, getting her curious enough to go check it out.

Elle: "?... What's this?..."

Back at the Quinjet

The three made it back, only to see an emergency call from Fury. Seeing it, Tony runs in followed by Pietro and Wanda before they see him answering.

Tony: "What's up, Patches?"

Fury: "We just received additional intel about both yours and Rogers missions. Turns out, we received false information on both fronts."

Wanda: "Wait, I thought SHIELD vetted all the intel they received."

Fury: "I thought so as well. Sadly, these didn't... Listen, for all we know this could be a trap, so gather the team and head back. Roger's team didn't find anything either and are heading back."

Tony: "Ok, I'll let them know." *Tony ends the call and presses the button on his communicator* "Julius, bad news, the two missions were a dud, they want us back at the tower. Head here as fast as you all can, ok?"

The moment Tony let's go of the button, all he hears is static.

Tony: "What the???" *Presses the button again* "Julius, did you hear me?" *Again, hears static* "That's... Not a good sign... Wands, think you can tell them through your mind-speak thingamajig?"

Wanda: "You mean Telepathy? Sure, one moment."

Wanda then closes her eyes as they begin to glow red along with her hands. As she's like this for a few seconds, her eyes shoot open, worry in them.

Wanda: "What the... I can't connect with them?..."

Tony: "what do you mean you can't connect with them?!"

Before Wanda could say anything, Pietro ran out to where you all were last as Wanda turns to Tony.

Wanda: "As I just said, I can't connect with them. It's like the link was broken somehow without me knowing."

Just then, Pietro returned, a worried look on his face now too.

Pietro: "I ran around the entire north section of town and I didn't see them. It's like they got snapped again or something."

Tony: "Shit!" *Turns to the screen* "FRI, call Fury."

Fury: *picks up quickly* "What's wrong Stark?"

Tony: "Bad news, we lost contact with half our team."

Fury: "You WHAT?!"

Wanda: "We think there's a chance it's connected to the stones again. Do you think SHIELD satellites were able to record them from before they vanished?"

Fury: "... We can only hope so. Head back for now and hopefully, the recording will be pulled from the satellite by then."

Wanda, Tony, & Pietro: *sighs* "Romanoff is gonna kill us..."
