CHAPTER IV: The arcade
"Are dogs really allowed in there?" Stella asked frowning from the driver's seat of her car, staring at Eric through the rear-view.
"I don't... think... they are... to be honest," he tried to say whilst avoiding Cassie, who was trying to take a bite on his burrito. I smiled sweetly at them with my own burger, next to them.
"But your manager wouldn't be mad, would they?" Amy said from the passenger's seat, turning her back to us with her mouth full.
"He's very sweet. If Eric explained, I don't think he'd be," I explained, Eric letting out groans as he escaped Cassie's snout.
"Where was your house again, sir?" Amy asked still turned, facing to Eric.
"Girl, he lives opposite me, are you dumb?" I answered with a laugh.
"Noah, you being hella rude to me lately, you better chill out or I will," she warned jokingly.
"As if you could beat me in a fight."
"Oh, no..." said Stella with her eyes wide open, a veggie burrito on her hand, "Girl, you did not say that."
"Of course he did and he will see me kick his huge not-really-used ass of his," Amy said feigning anger. I drove my hand to my chest and let out a squeak.
"What do you mean with 'not-really-used ass'?"
"Oh, boy, you know what I mean," she answered, making Eric laugh out loud and getting licked inside his mouth in the process.
Not long after, Eric had dropped Cassie off in his house since his aunt had returned home. He sat in the same place as before, smiling me sweetly as he jumped in the car, no burrito in his hand. Stella drove to the arcade while playing music and talking happily with Eric. I was really glad they had gotten along, tho I already knew they would since they were very similar.
The arcade wasn't very large, but it was big enough to hold many machines in it. It was a low retro-looking building with tons of arcade machines, a bar for drinks and a little spot with tables and benches. It was lit by blue and purple neon lights that made our skin and clothes look weird and 80's music played loudly through the speakers. There were many people since it was friday night and the arcade was quite popular between young people. We started to wander through the machines, deciding which one would be best to try out first.
"What about Street Fighter?" Eric suggested, pointing to a machine with the name of the game in huge orange letters. "I've played the games in PS4, they're amazing."
"Sure!" we all agreed.
I wanted to pair up with Eric, but Amy refused to play with Stel since she said she was a 'white-pure sensitive brat'. She sent her a very ugly look and paired up with Eric, leaving me with Amy. We started playing: the team who got more victories in four rounds, would win. The first to play were Amy and Stella, who were already really pissed at each other.
"Yo, Stel! That's not fair, you ain't even playing good! You just smashing the buttons senseless!" Amy shouted at her.
"Yeah, I'm gonna show you how much of a white-pure sensitive brat I am, bitch!" she yelled back. I raised my eyebrows in surprise of her swearing, sharing a look with Eric. Even Amy looked shocked while still playing.
"Fuck yeah! Whatcha said, brat?" Amy exclaimed arrogantly when she won, receiving a death-stare from Stella.
We were next, so I stood where Amy had been and Eric went to Stella's spot. The game began and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. My character was like a Kung Fu fighter with a red ribbon on the forehead that moved weirdly. I was pressing random buttons in order to try to win, but it didn't seem to be working since Eric was kicking my ass (or my character's). Suddenly, he stopped pressing buttons and got close to me, explaining the controls.
