This is a flashback in Wilbur's mind!!
I wanted to build the plot and build more
of a story behind Y/n to build her character.
---------------------
Wilbur remembers the day he met Niki.
Someone named Austin has what is almost a "gameshow" of sorts, but for love. It was called Love or Host, where one person would try and find love. A person was chosen by Austin, in this case Niki, to be brought onto the show, and they would have to eliminate one by one the people competing for her choice. Once eliminated, they would reveal if they chose love, meaning they were interested in the contestant, or host, meaning they just wanted to get hosted by Austin.
The day when he saw the opportunity to join the gameshow, he was pretty excited about joining. When Austin asked him whether he would choose love or host, he chose host. He thought she was nice, but he wasn't really looking for anyone at that time. But eventually he was the last one out of all the other competitors to be eliminated, he won. He felt bad that she got hosted, so he did take her out.
After that day, they continued meeting up, truly looking to see if they could work together. And to his surprise, they did. Months passed, and Wilbur couldn't be happier. Niki was everything he could've ever wanted, and more. She was his angel.
It finally came the day when he was ready to propose. Nerves ran all throughout his body on the day of. He had invited Niki to go to a flower field nearby so they could watch the sunset because he knew how much she loved flowers. He got there earlier to find a clear spot for a picnic. He set down the blanket, using his guitar to weigh it down as well as a bottle of champagne. Sitting down, he started fidgeting with the ring box, trying to figure out what he was going to say to her.
"Wilbur?" A soft voice came from behind him, making him turn around to see his soon to be fiance.
"Hey," The wind blew in her pink hair, the golden sun reflecting in her eyes making them so much more profound and detailed. She wore a simple, sandy colored jumper with a matching long sleeve shirt and matching converse. "Here, come sit on the blanket I laid out for us." He couldn't help but smile at her, and that's all he did as they talked.
"Let's go pick some flowers. I want to pick some so I can dry them and remember today." She smiled at him and stood up, giving him a hand to help him get up.
"I love that." When she looked away, he made sure the ring was in his pocket, ready for the special moment to come.
They walked through the field, hand in hand, taking in the unique scent of each flower around them. Warm laughs filled the air as the sun started to set, shining its golden light on the couple. He watched as she danced through the field, hands in the air, twirling and taking in the nature before her. She bent over to pick some baby's breath, and he got down on one knee, placing the ring box on his palm, waiting expectantly for her to turn around.
"Wil-" She could not process what was happening. The flowers in her hand dropped to the floor as her hands went to cover her mouth in awe.
"Niki, I- I uh... I've tried to recite what I was going to s-say at this moment for such a long time now. But screw the script." The two laughed at that, nerves lacing their voices. "
All I know is that I could never deserve you, ever. And all I want to do is make you happy, that's all I want to accomplish in life. You make me the happiest man alive, did you know that? You are the reason why I'm still here, you keep me sane. Everything you do Niki, everything you are, is perfect. You are so different in every way, there truly is no one like you, even if you looked for someone who is, you wouldn't find them. You are you, and that's what makes the difference. You are a special different. I want to live my life with you and you only, I want to experience new things with you, love you, have kids with you, everything. And it sounds so cliche, but I can't imagine my life without you. So... will you marry me?"
