The next morning came quickly. Tubbo was awoken by the smell of freshly baked bread and bacon cooking over a fire. He deliberately got dressed and tidied his room slowly, unable to shake the unfamiliar feeling which held his chest captive. He felt out of place in the snow cabin. Ranboo seemed completely fine, he got along with Puffy and Sam wonderfully. Tubbo wasn't sure how long he would be able to deal with this. He had to find the resurrection books before they left, or sneak away from Puffy and Ranboo after they leave, but that would leave the issue of Sam, who would be back on the SMP.

A knock on Tubbo's closed door snapped the young boy from his thoughts. "Come in," Tubbo called, and Ranboo opened the door slowly. The enderling stood on the threshold for a few moments, before Tubbo snapped at him. "What?"

"Puff and Sam are downstairs, Puffy made pancakes. If you wanted any," Ranboo said quickly. "You should come down, they're really good". Tubbo nodded silently, acknowledging that he had heard, and Ranboo fell away into the shadows. Sighing, Tubbo grabbed Tommy's compass from his bedside table, and placed it carefully over his neck. His own compass sat comfortably in his pocket. Slowly, he made his way down the stairs, stopping on the last step as the argument began.

Tubbo, from where he stood hidden behind the wall, could see Sam and Puffy but no Ranboo. Maybe he was still in his room. Tubbo sucked in a breath as Puffy's voice became louder and angrier.

"You said you would help me, but yet again you choose Pandora's box over me and the boys," Puffy shouted. "You should just stay on the SMP, it would be easier for everyone".

"I just need to go back for a few hours, I'll be back before nightfall. Besides, it might be helpful for Tubbo if there are less people here, he obviously doesn't want to be here and I might bring him comfort to know I'm still keeping Dream in line," Sam countered.

"Oh please!" Puffy continued, "As if you know what the poor boy wants. He wants his best friend back, Sam!"

"I will be back before nightfall," Sam promised, and Tubbo could see he was ending the conversation, "Don't let the boys stray too far from here, we don't know who our allies are".

"I know how to take care of people, Sam," Puffy snapped as the creeper-hybrid gathered his belongings.

"Be back soon," Sam said, as he disappeared into the snow. Puffy sighed angrily and began pottering around the kitchen. Tubbo stood completely still, wondering if he should just go back upstairs for a few minutes to let Puffy calm down, but in that moment, Ranboo came flying down the stairs.

"Hey!" The enderling exclaimed, "I was talking to Sam last night, and he said there was a flower forest nearby here. I was wondering if you would want to check it out".

"Uh, sure," Tubbo said quickly, as Puffy rounded the corner to discover the boys standing on the last step.

"These pancakes are getting cold," She said, "Did you two sleep well?"

Ranboo nodded, a smile on his face. As the three walked into the main area of the house, Ranboo realised Sam was nowhere to be found. "Where's Sam?" He asked, as he turned in a circle looking for the older man.

"Sam had to duck out for a few hours, he shouldn't be gone too long," Puffy said, her annoyance showing through her tone.

"He's at the prison," Tubbo said shortly, as he sat down at the breakfast bench and began to load pancakes onto his plate. Puffy stopped for a moment, Ranboo too. The room fell silent for several seconds as the two took in what Tubbo had said.
