Sunday mornings are normally peaceful and serene.

Unless it's the Oliver household.

In that case, Elle Vincent woke up to obnoxious video game blaster noises and yelling from her step-brother Tommy's room beside her.

"Ughhhhh," she groaned, she rolled over to shove the pillow on top of her head. The fluffy cushion did nothing to block out her step-brothers cheers from next door.

With a huff, she rolled out of bed.The loud bangs echoed through the halls as Elle slammed her hand into the door.

"What?" Tommy yelled, sounding annoyed.

"Some of us are trying to sleep!"

Tommy scoffed, "It's almost 10:30 on a Sunday morning, why are you still sleeping?"

"Some people like to sleep in ya know, the world doesn't revolve around you," she said.

The door to their parents bedroom creaked open.

"Elle? Why are you screaming?" her mother said.

Elle huffed, hitting the door again before turning to face her, "Tommy woke me up."

"I guess his video games are a bit loud aren't they?"

Sam stood behind her, "Elle, you're gonna have to get used to not being the only kid in the house anymore."

"Tommy, video games are supposed to be quiet. Put some headphones in," her mom said, Tommy rolled his eyes, "Elle, don't you need to finish unpacking?"

She rolled her eyes before walking back into her room and slamming the door.

"No slamming doors!" Sam yelled, Elle huffed and flopped back onto her bed.

Going back to sleep felt useless to her at that point, Tommy had plugged in headphones but she could still hear him talking loudly to the game. Elle sat up in bed. Boxes sat near the door to her bedroom and closet waiting to be opened and put away.

'I guess that's my plan for today,' she thought.

Carefully she grabbed the first box by the door and a pair of scissors, she cut open the box and folded the sides back. Inside were knicknacks of various sizes: pictures, trophies, a scrapbook, and her belts from her time at Cross World City Tao's dojo karate.

At the very bottom of the box sat something shiny that caught her eye. With a smile, she dug her hand down and grabbed it. Her virtualizer. She wasn't sure it would work being this far away from Professor Harts lab. She really wished she could go back, even if it was just to see the other Troopers. Unfortunately, she was forced away from her life there and into the one she now had at Angel Grove. It was the last week of summer yet she felt like it would feel like years until the new school year at Angel Grove High began.

Maybe they'd at least have a chess club.

It was so weird to her, going from being an unstoppable superhero to... basically a nobody, in only the span of a few months.

Screw her mother's boss and frequent business trips. If she hadn't met Samuel Oliver at that seminar in Angel Grove she'd still be home.

Anyways, she's stuck here whether she likes it or not. She realized she should try and make some friends.

The next box she opened was all of her chest stuff. Boards, books, magazines, tucked neatly away in the side was a very special chess set. One she never opened anymore because she was scared of ruining it. She carefully placed all of them on the shelf in her closet before moving on to the next one.

Clothes were folded and put away, or hung up neatly on the bar in her closet. All that was left after that was her computer.

She sat the monitor on the table, dragging the CPU tower out and setting it beside her desk.

Ten minutes later she had everything plugged in, she pressed the button to turn it on... and nothing happened.

"Ugh! What'd I do wrong?" she said, mostly to herself.

A chuckle came from behind her, "You didn't connect the power supply unit to the processor correctly."

Elle jumped, turning to face the boy in a blue shirt that was standing in her bedroom door. The bedroom door she thought she had slammed shut earlier.

"If you need help I can fix it for you," he offered.

"I don't need help, what are you doing in my room anyways?"

He stuck out his hand, "I'm Rocky, Tommy sent me up here to get you. He said he needs you to cook dinner cause your parents are gone."

"Well," Elle huffed, moving her desk so she could access the back of the CPU tower again, "Tell Tommy he's gonna have to fend for his poor self because I need to finish unpacking."

Rocky pushed the door open wider and stepped inside, looking around.

"He said you're kinda a jerk."

Elle huffed, switching around the HDMI cables and trying the button again, "Well he's a megajerk too so I would take his opinions with a grain of salt."

He chuckled, "He's a good guy once you get to know him. Are you sure you don't want help?"

"I don't need help!" Elle said sternly, "I can do it myself."

"Fine, brat."

Elle glared at him as he walked back out the door.

She turned back to the CPU and rearranged the wires for the fifth time, this time the computer whizzed to life when she hit the button.

"Finally, this is why I let JB handle the tech," she sighed, sitting down at the table.

She saw she had a new email. It was from Kaitlyn asking if she had settled in yet. Elle sighed and clicked 'respond'.

Hey Kait,

Settled in just fine. Tell JB I set up my PC all by myself with no help whatsoever. Say hi to Ryan for me too. I miss you guys so much!

Let professor Hart know I'm ready to be transported back for any...surprises that might seem to find you guys.

My stepbrother is a real jerk. I really miss home right now.

Hope to see you soon,

-Elle
