The words to the song "Lithium" by Nirvana blasted throughout Valerie's room, her head nodding along to the beat. Doing school papers always was easier when she played some music while doing them, but even then she thought it was still a pain in the ass.

"The meaning of this speech is..," she thought out loud, pausing to think. "The meaning of this speech to me is-"

Valerie was cut off by a knock on her window and the muffled words, "Knock knock, it's your all time favorite vampire!"

Her lips turned upward into a smile. She jumped out of her desk chair and speed-walked over to her window which also had a window seat, great for cushioning her vampire buddies landing when he floated inside. Valerie pushed the window open, looking out at the blonde haired vampire boy floating in the air. He had a huge grin plastered on his face.

"Hey Rory."

"Hey Val!," He said, bobbing up and down in the air. He was floating in a criss-cross sitting position, his chin resting on his hands. "Can I come in? I'm freezing out here."

She had almost forgotten vampires had to be invited in. "Oh yeah, come on in." With his welcoming, he floated on inside, plopping down on the cushioned window seat. Rory just made himself at home.

They had been doing this for as long as either of them could remember. Well, before he was turned into a vampire, he came through the door like a normal person, obviously. Valerie and Rory had been bestfriends and got along like two peas in a pod ever since they had met in elementary school. They had grown up together, and Valerie was there for when Rory was bitten and turned. If there was anyone that was better friends than Benny and Ethan, it was Rory and Val.

"So, watcha doing up so late Val?"

That was his nickname for her; Val.

"Well, before my favorite vampire ninja showed up, I was working on the paper we have for English class."

Rory's eyes widened. "We have a paper due for English?"

Valerie rolled her eyes at him and sat back down at her desk, turning her computer screen to show him the essay she was struggling so hard on. "Yes genius. It's an essay on the speech we listened to in class the other day. And it's fucking boring," she sighed. Rory groaned and laid back against the cushion.

"How much money do you think I'll have to pay Benny to write my paper?," Rory asked with a small smirk playing on his lips. Valerie rolled her eyes, again. "Well, considering you just asked him to write a paper for you last week, I'm gonna guess.. Hm, I'd say about 30 dollars?"

It was Rory's turn to roll his eyes. He then sat up, his eyes flashing. "Would you write my pa-"

He was cut off by Val's laugh. "No way in hell am I gonna write your paper Rory."
