"If it's meant to be... it'll be."

That's all Marinette could think about, as she stood at the cash register of the bakery. It had been pretty busy lately... her parents told her what Adrien had done. How he helped their business by freely sponsoring it. "Have a nice day." She told the customer before they left.

It had been a few days since Adrien left... if he wanted to be with her, he would. This was reality, not some corny movie where a couple confessed their love for each other last minute. It was that simple. She had to accept... that he didn't want to be with her. She had to move on. But how?

It was a rainy day, she could see fellow Parisians walking down the streets with umbrellas. The rain drops that plopped on the bakery windows, and she could hear the sound of the rain hitting the roof. It was... peaceful. It felt relieving in a way.

She let out a sigh, her eyes wandering towards a specific person walking on the cement towards the bakery. He carried a black umbrella, sporting a black tight shirt with a leather jacket and jeans. Fluffy silk locks... could it be..? "Adrien?" She said out loud, catching her parents attention.

Was she imagining things?

Tom and Sabine looked at each other before smiling, as if they knew what was about to happen...
Tom had received a phone call earlier that day, to ask for his daughters hand in marriage.

Marinette didn't hesitate to walk out of the bakery into the rain, "Adrien?" She said again, pushing past the crowd of people. She began to walk a bit faster, as did he. She grinned once she knew it had to be him, what was he doing back here? "Marinette!" She heard him call, "Adrien!"

It seemed like forever before she was in his arms, under the shade of his umbrella. The two were surrounded by the grey cloudy sky, Adrien could see her hair was slightly damp and the wet spots on her shirt. "What are you doing here?!" She asked, her hands against his chest.

"I wanted to tell you something."

"So you came all the way here?" She laughed, and he shook his head. "I wanted to... ask you something." He looked down at her, he knew instantly she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. His eyes locked with hers, a crimson blush blooming across her beautiful freckled cheeks.

"What is it...?" She said softly, her heart hammering in her chest. He smiled, his eyes getting softer before he handed her the umbrella he was holding. "Blue, once I went back to America, I knew I could never be happy without you. All those years I stayed away from you, thinking that I was protecting you..."

"I should've been there for you, and I'm so sorry that I wasn't. I should've never let you go, Marinette." Adrien reached into his pocket, pulling out a small black box and she felt her chest tighten. "This is my mothers ring, and I know that if she was here she wouldn't want anyone else to have it but you."

"I love you Marinette, with everything that I have." Adrien said softly, "I promise, that I will never let you go again." He got on one knee, and Marinette couldn't believe what was happening. She felt like she was dreaming, like it was too good to be true.

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng, will you marry me?"

For brief moment, all she could see... all she could hear... all she could feel, was him. Her heart hammered in her chest, he had took her breath away. She knew what she wanted, but she didn't know how to say it.

"If you say yes, you're stuck with me. I know it's a long shot but, please say yes. If you say no, well... you're still stuck with me." Adrien said, looking up at her like she was the only thing that mattered to him. Which, in that moment, she was.

She stepped closer to him, her eyes locked with his and she didn't dare look away.  "Yes..."

He carefully slid the ring on her finger, noticing her eyes tearing up. He didn't wait to scoop her up into his arms and twirl her around. This was one of the happiest moments in his life. She immediately wrapped her arms back around him, dropping the umbrella.

She heard several cheers of strangers around them, but she didn't care who was watching or listening. She didn't care about anyone but Adrien in that moment. She never wanted this to end... she was just so happy. And suddenly her lips were placed against his, in a passionate, nerve wracking kiss.

Tom and Sabine watched from their bakery window, with tears in their eyes. "I told you... he's a keeper." Sabine said and Tom chuckled, pulling his wife closer to his side. "I knew he was crazy for her the way he looked at her, they make each other happy."

Sabine smiled softly, her head leaning against his shoulder.

Adrien found himself love sick the next morning. Laying next to his fiancé curled up into the sheets. His nose nuzzled into her neck as he placed chaste kisses all over her face. He always liked being the chaser... Marinette giggled a little, "I have worrrrkkkk..." she groaned.

Adrien sighed, "Do you have to go?" She laughed a little, "Yes, silly. But I promise I'll bring pastries when I get back." He nodded as she began to get ready for work. He made her breakfast before she left, and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

When he went back to sit on the bed, he noticed a book on the nightstand. He recognized the cover. The Sun Is Also a Star. His lips formed into a smile, she had gone back to the library to finish it? After all this time? He picked up his phone and called her.

"The Sun is Also a Star." He said, reading the title of the book. "I didn't figure you were the type to interest in romance novels blueberry."

Marinette chuckled over the phone line, "How'd you know it was a romance novel, Agreste?"

"Touché."

"The black hole... of the... window... where you sleep..."

"The night breeze... carries... something sweet. A peach tree... wild women don't get the blues, but I find that... lately I've been crying like a... tall child."

"So please, hurry leave me, I can't breathe... please don't say you love me."
"胸がはち切れそうで"

"One word from you and I would jump off of this ledge I'm on baby, tell me don't so I can crawl back in."
