Raining Backstory

The world ended eighty years ago in 2050; a pandemic spread throughout the world infecting billions of people. In a dire attempt to destroy the disease the world effort, labeled W.O.R.L.D, sent all the infected to Russia and they bombed them with nuclear missiles. Unfortunately this didn't fix the disease rather it exploded larger than expected and it ravaged most of the world turning it into a desert wasteland.. After ten years 99% of the population was infected and like the flip of a switch the disease became lethal. Now there is believed to be less than one million people surviving.

About twenty years after the apocalypse people were gathered near the same area so people established a hopeful government called The Reconstructors. In the beginning of their reign everyone that government was the first step towards a civilized society and under the rule of The Commander humanity prospered for a short time. That is until he fell ill and died. He was replaced by a tyrannical ruler or the General of Light as he refers to himself. He broke down everything The Commander strived for. He tore apart families creating his army of ruthless killers labeled the Draken. The Draken protect the Commander and enforce his will. You either live in fear doing anything and everything not to be killed by the Draken or you are part of the rebellion.

In the past several years the rebellion has been steadily growing to the point were they are almost ready to attack. The rebellion is led by a mysterious man that only the top rebels have seen or even been in the presence of. There have been rumors for a couple months that the rebellion is looking for more members before they attack.

My name is Ian I am a mercenary, I'm not part of the rebellion although I fight to take down the the government. I wander from city to city taking out members of the Draken for money. I was born in the midst of Light's reign. My mother and father were killed in front of me by the Drake when I was ten. They took me to their barracks and for ten more years I was trained as a Draken soldier. I escaped from the Draken when the rebellion attacked my squad and I managed to avoid being killed by them.

Now I'm just trying to get a good night's sleep before I go into the town of Lerwik and search for work. It's times like these I don't mind the world, just staring into the blackness of the sky, feeling the warmth of the fire on the side of my face, and listening to the bugs and the birds converse over the quiet flow of the wind. An arrow swiftly flew from behind a rock and pierced into my leg. Then a rock smashed down onto my head momentarily silencing the pain as I fell unconscious.
