Chapter Fifteen
Richie and Bev were sitting on Bev's carpet in her bedroom listening to music while Richie explained his situation. Beverly listened to it all and almost cried because of how sad this was.
"And now, Eddie won't talk to me and Bev, I have no idea how to fix this. I just want Eddie to know how much I love him. I want him to know that I feel horrible," Richie finished. He sniffed and regained his strength. Beverly sat there rubbing his back.
"I'm so sorry Richie. I'm sure you're so upset. We'll work through this. Just, for now, let's have fun and try to stop thinking about this. Tomorrow, we'll figure something out that will make Eddie's heart melt. He'll want you back. I'm sure he already does. There's no way he doesn't love you Rich. Even through this, I saw Eddie staring at you at the quarry," Beverly said once he had stopped talking. Richie agreed and Bev pushed herself up off of the floor. She grabbed a small decorated box from her dresser. She sat back down and set the box down in between them.
"What's that?" Richie asked, pointing at the box.
"This is something that always makes me feel relaxed and I don't know if you'll want to do it, but you might," Beverly said as she opened the box. It was full of nail polish. Beverly dumped them out on the ground.
"You wanna paint your nails?" she asked.
"Actually, yes, I do," Richie said, looking at all of the colors.
"Yay! Okay, choose your color. Or colors," Beverly said, gesturing down at the assortment of nail polish bottles. Richie chose a dark purple that somehow, was exactly how he was feeling right then. Dark purple.
"Excellent. This color will work great with your eyes," Beverly said, upcapping the bottle. "Hold out your hand, Rich,"
Richie loved his nails. They were so dark, it almost looked black. They were perfect for him. Bev had painted her nails a pastel green. When they were finished, they blasted music and sang to it as loud as they could. Eddie was Richie's best friend and the person he loved the most but Bev was his second closest friend after Eddie. Bev always gave him new energy and happiness. She had been able to cheer him up even if it was only for a few hours when no one else could have (besides Eddie of course). Richie decided to stay the night at Bev's. When he was laying in bed around 1:00 AM, he was thinking about the past few days. And that's when the idea hit him. The most perfect idea that would show Eddie exactly how much he meant to him. He sat up and shook Bev awake.
"Bev! Bev, wake up! I just had an idea," Richie said, shaking her arm. She woke up and looked confused.
"What Richie? It's like 1 in the morning," she said groggily.
"I'm sorry, I just had a really good idea Bev, but I'll need your help," Richie was sitting up next to her.
"What is it?" she asked. Richie smiled and started explaining it to her. She loved the idea and now, all they had to do was put it in action.
Richie and Bev had spent hours planning out what he was going to do and only got a few hours of sleep. Richie woke up at 8:00 and left a note for Bev letting her know that he had a good time and he had to go. Richie ran all the way back to his house. He knew Eddie would probably be up already and he didn't want Eddie to see him until later in the day. He climbed in through the window to get to his bedroom and grabbed some pencils and some paper. He then climbed back out of the window and left his house on his bike.
Richie biked to the town square, sat down on one of the benches, and got to work. He took some of the pieces of paper and the pencil. He wrote down a bunch of small notes carefully, in his neatest handwriting. He sat there for hours, writing until his hand felt like it would fall off. He wanted this to be absolutely perfect for Eddie. Once he had finished, he looked over all of his work and then biked back to his house. He left the first note on Eddie's desk, hoping Eddie would see it soon.
The next chapter is about to be so adorable I'm really excited!
