Y/n

"I missed you bunbun!" This girl chirps hopping on me.

"Liv, we facetimed thirty minutes ago."

She flares her nose raising an eyebrow at me.

"On the contrary, I get to hug my best friend now. There's a difference." She hugs my arm after we reserved our seats in the bus.

I plug my airpods. In the meantime Olivia is having a staring competition, unexplainably with a small child. "You're a whole different breed."

"Well, anyway, You kn- uh, bestie, put your rich ass airpods away."

She pries them from my ears shoving them in my bag.

"Be careful they're expensive!!" She ignores my whine, as always, and slaps my thigh.

"Here, look. Pleaseee!! I met a cute guy on tinder yesterday and he opened with "I've a girlfriend but you kinda cute." bro??? who shoots their shot like that?!?" I act surprised covering my mouth dramatically.

"That's vicious, Liv..''

"I know, right! Guess what did I do?"

"What did you do?" I hang my mouth open following my dramatic expressions.

"I took his insta and told on him to his girlfriend." She cackles loudly.

"You did not!"

"I don't encourage cheating. He deserved what he got. Period." She gives me a proud look raising both her eyebrows

"Gosh..I could never... I don't have the balls."

She remarks with a proud face. "Learn from the best, bestie."

"RAWRRR" Liv growls at a sleeping doggo without a reason, it scurries away in the blink of an eye.

"Liv!! Everyone is looking at us don't roar!" She grunts depressingly chewing on her bubble gum like a cow.

Being used to this I roll my eyes skywards, playfully.

"Oh no.."

"Hm?"

"I forgot to buy something."

"Alright, I'll come with you."

"No, it's fine."

I hurry to the story, on the other side of the road, shuffling through my bag for the black card. I wasn't paying attention to the road.

My heads turns to the left finding a car heading in my direction with a great bolt of lightning speed. My thoughts are uncrystallised with the suddenness of having death two feet away from me.

I felt the forces of death mysteriously walking backwards as my bad luck turned around instantly. my body is pressed forward enveloping me in a protective hug.

Shock robs me of speech. There is a slightly old man, almost same age as my father. He has grizzled curly crusty hair along with long beard and ragged clothes.

I shake like a leaf also dizziness takes over me making me nauseous.

"Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?"

"I'm..fine."

He heaves a relieving sigh looking deeply concerned for me.

"How can you be so careless while crossing road? Had something awful have happened I.."

He abruptly stops darting his watery eyes to the ground.

Why is he crying? I don't even know him..

"I'm.. I'm not hurt anywhere. Th..thank you for saving me."

I express my gratitude with a few stutters , still in too much shock.

"Take care. Don't let your guard down. Not every road will lead to your destination. Keep your eyes open and choose your path wisely."

Confused as ever I stand still. Before I could ask them anything everyone gather to help me and he disappears among the crowd.

-

On my way to class I bump into Zach. He got into the same college as me.

"Y/n, um, you look pretty.." He moves nervously, putting his hands inside pockets, nibbling on his lips.

"Uh, thanks.." I awkwardly smile as he didn't stop blushing.

"Of course! Also, um.. tomorrow is my birthday, by the way."

I don't remember my own birthday, to say nothing of others.

"Ah.. yes, I remember. Happy early birthday." I lie stretching my cheeks in a fake smile.

"Would love if you could wish me in person at the party."

"Party? Yeah, sure! Text me the address." My eyes light up.

"Really? oh, god thanks. So I'll text you. Seeya around."

"Bye"

It's not about him tho, I'm down for anywhere I could get free food and drinks.
