Shehnaaz seemed weightless for her beast husband. She was too light for him to be pulled just like a half-filled sack. Rishabh jerked her petite figure inside the room, as his lips shaped into sinister smile. With her hands as her only support, Shehnaaz dragged herself back. She stopped at the washroom door while Rishabh, by now was too close to her. All this while, her eyes never left his.
Ever if Rishabh questioned her about their marriage, there was the loophole! She dragged herself back for she didn't feel safe. There! Yes! She was never safe with him around. What good was that marriage for? Well, the end wasn't far-sighted.
Cupping her velvet soft cheeks, said Rishabh,"I have always wanted you. You just never let me-"... Was he really this calm? Or was he trying to mend things up? Or was it just the calm before the animal attacked on its prey?
" I was a good man. Wasn't I? You forced me to be so. Agar baat maan leti toh kya ho jaata Shehnaaz?", he was ever so calm putting Shehnaaz in her own dilemma. " Maine socha time ke saath sudhar jaogi, but then you still seem to have your eyes fixed-"
"Aah! Leave it! Warna tumhare andar ki naari shakti jaag jaegi lmao. Waise do they pleasure you enou-"
Old habits die hard. A dog would continue being one and a person like Rishabh would never change. Shehnaaz, with all the might left in her injured body kicked the man on his face. Right there. While he fell down. "I warned you then, I did warn you again and now you deserved it", Shehnaaz said to him, emphasising on every word. She spoke ever so loudly with the fire that would burn him. Her fingers poked his chest everytime she said a word. Shehnaaz wanted to hurt him, to force him to experience atleast the same physical pain that she felt.
"Kutte ki dum kabhi seedhi nahi ho sakti na! I knew it. Aur tu acha insaan tha? I made you so? Give me one reason that should have made me feel good about us. Give me one damn reason to continue being your wife! Kuch hai?", Shehnaaz spoke looking into his eyes dead.
" Let me give you enough reasons to leave you. Not for once did I feel valued. You used to hit me, Rishabh. That was where I lost my own self respect. That was where I failed my ownself for I couldn't fight. I didn't feel me all these years. I forgot my worth, looking for people around me who could give me the same love. You never trusted me. Arey trust ki kya baat hai, did you even treat me like a human? Never.
Mere sapno ka kya? I wanted to live. Mai yeh nahi kehti ki ghar ka kaam karna kharab hai but I didn't belong here. I was born to fly and you cut my wings. It was late that I realised that I had to fly. Neither for you, nor for anybody else. I had to fly for myself. I don't think I can stay here anymore, atleast not after you did this to me. YOU CHEATED ON ME", she wasn't crying. There was a ray of light coming that she could see. Shehnaaz knew that it would take something to reach there and she wasn't far away. Just a little more and she would do it.
Rishabh was out of words. If not this, he could anyday play his other cards. He fell on his knees, holding her feet together and looked at her with teary eyes. " I was blinded. Mereko nahi pata tha mai kya karta raha itne saal. Baby I never cheated on you dilse. Bas ho gaya".
Even a kid could figure out what he was trying to do. " Bas ho gaya? Bas ho gaya? Cheating is not bas ho gaya. You cheated me? You cheated your ownself. Tune dikhaya jo tu hai. I am fed up of putting up a happy facade. Mai aur nahi dikha sakti. I am not happy with you and I can't stay here anymore.", Shehnaaz said to him. She looked at him with disbelief at what he said. Cheating was no mistake. People do it intentionally and she was no fool to not understand it.
" Jo apne bache ka nahi ho saka woh mera kya hoga?", she spat those words like venom. Shrey. He was Rishabh's son just for the sake of it but this did hit him hard. He pulled her under him and started putting his weight on her. Her hands struggled to come out of his grip while he had the same sinister smile back. She knew she had woken up the beast. He started putting more pressure on her when she hit the vase on his head. Shehnaaz's clothes had a deep shade of red while Rishabh was lying on the floor, growling and holding his head. He didn't stop cursing her even now. She quickly moved out of his grip and kicked him again! "You deserve it Rishabh ", she screamed and left the room.
