" Kiske saath aaye ho idhar?", Sidharth asked Shehnaaz , breaking the long silence that prevailed. "My son and my husband", she answered. "who is good for nothing", came a mutter from Shehnaaz. The man has been asking her questions continuously which had started to irritate her now.
" What does he do?"
" He is an industrialist", Shehnaaz answered. She wished the questions to end soon.
" I might know him then. Why didn't he accompany you guys?"
" Can you shut up? Please", Shehnaaz shouted. He was testing her patience." Ekdum chup. Mera dimag phat raha hai", she stopped him from speaking something he was about to. One more word and she would have ended up killing him. That was not a good behavior. Even her son behaved better, he thought.
Sidharth switched on the radio. He focused back on the road and continued driving. He stole glances at her at multiple intervals for her hair attracted him. They were so soft and silky. It could be made out by they way her hair flowed down her shoulders. Her hair had the perfect length. Just how he liked them. He had an urge to smell them. *Shut up Sidharth!!!! Focus*, he scolded himself as he tried looking at the road. He tried not looking towards her but how could he not ?
" Can i smell your hair?", he asked her .
Shehnaaz eyes widened. What was that? She looked at him in disbelief. Sidharth had embarrassed himself yet again. " Haan , i mean dur se bhi chalega".
" Tum pagal ho kya", Shehnaaz was shocked. This was the strangest thing she had seen. " Please gaadi chalao", she said. Shrey unknowingly increased his desire to smell her hair. " Uncle aapko pata hai, mumma ke baal ki scent bohot achi hai", he said. Shehnaaz looked back at him, asking him to stay quiet.
After some embarrassing twenty minutes, they reached the hotel. " Obviously aapke paas khayal rakhne ko hai. Still aapko koi help chahiye hogi toh mujhe bataiyega", he said to her. Shehnaaz thanked him for helping her out today and turned around, walking towards her room. Out of all the things, she did not expect him to stop her. He pulled her back and turned her around. She looked at their hands and then raised an eyebrow at him, asking him what the matter was.
In spite of answering, Sidharth started moving closer. Shehnaaz could only step back if she was not being pulled by him. His gaze remained constant. Holding her other hand too, he tightened his grip around her wrists ; tight enough for her to not slap him after what he was going to do. She stood in front of him at the distance of a step. He was not standing too close even. Though he maintained a respectable distance, his gaze still scared Shehnaaz. It was nothing but the intensity with which he looked at her, scared her.
Sidharth slowly bent towards her, not breaking the eye contact and after some seconds stood back, straight. He still held her hands tight. Sidharth again came near her face and said in a husky voice said, " Dove is a nice shampoo". He quickly left her wrists and ran away like a kid, giving her not even a second to react. Shehnaaz's mouth fell wide open. That was really very stupid of him.Who does that even? The proximity between the two gave her legit chills.. She looked at him as he stood just near his cottage's door. He said something. It was probably a sorry. He held his ears and looked at her again. Having understood what he meant, she smiled at him and left.
The next morning Shehnaaz woke up to a severe back pain. She checked her bed sheet for a stain when she found the other side of the bed empty. It horrified her to not find Shrey even in then washroom. She hurried out of her room, looking for Shrey everywhere when she heard him laughing. He was playing near the stairs with Sidharth. With Sidharth? Why? The most important question was that why was he out of the room? Sidharth should have been anywhere else but there. Shehnaaz walked up to the Shrey and stood in front of him, folding her hands. Her expressions could very well show how mad she was at that moment.
Shehnaaz pulled Shrey's ear very lightly. " Bahar kya kar rahe ho?", she looked at him in anger. It was for a second that her heart had stopped beating. She was his mother after all. " Papa leke aaye the. Unhone bola ki upar chale jana , neeche wale floor se. Raste mein mujhe superman uncle mil gaye toh unke saath khel raha tha", Shrey spoke very casually. He was aware of the fact that his mother was a really short-tempered woman when he was concerned. It was correct even for Shrey was a very mischievous kid. She had to scold him at times to prevent him from crossing the limits. On one hand when she could not even breathe to not find her son, Rishabh was so careless. Nothing could be expected of him.
The scolding session had already begun. Sidharth did not leave the place. He stood near Shrey, looking at the floor. He acted as if he was the one receiving the scoldings. Well, he was not far away from getting scolded. The moment Shehnaaz finished speaking, Shrey pointed towards Sidharth. " Unhone bola khelne. Maine toh mana kiya tha mumma. Mai toh good boy hoon na, isliye". Shrey put the complete blame on his beloved Super Man uncle. Sidharth knew that he was standing at the receiving end of the never ending lectures of the over protective mother.
Just like passing the parcel, Sidharth passed over the glare he received from Shehnaaz to Shrey. " Abey ay, mujhe kyu daat padwa raha hai tu? Teri maa shera wali maata hai beta. Please aise mat kar", Sidharth looked at the little one with pleading eyes while the child just showed his white teeth wishing for some compliment. On receiving none, he said," Haan mumma, uncle kaise karte hain. Mujhe gusse se dekh rahe", he complained, blinking at a surprised Sidharth.
" Aankh mat dikaho usko. Woh toh bacha hai. Tumhare mein akal nahi hai kya? Tum bache ho kya? Seedhi mein jaise khel rahe the, usko lag jaata toh?", she kept on speaking while all Sidharth wondered was that she had a superb breath control. Speaking three sentence at one go, wow! Shehnaaz was not in a mood to spare anyone.
" Yeh apun ka dost hai mummy. Itna load nahi lene ka kya". Shrey patted his back for succesfully speaking like a tapori. How could he not succeed? He had the world's best teacher to teach him, Sidharth.
" Hain?", Shehnaaz was shocked.
" Itna kyu ghumaya baat ko? Aise cut to cut baat karne ka apun ke jaise", he said again. Shehnaaz glare was enough to shut his mouth. " Tu chal, load , cut to cut mai tujhe batati hoon. Chal beta.", Shehnaaz pulled him to the room. Sidharth followed them. Shrey would receive a dirty bashing today.
"I want to play with my friend", the little one cried out.
"Yes . Waise tum na poori santoor wali mumma ho", Sidharth tried to coax her with compliments. It was truly unbelievable on Sidharth's part to imagine Shehnaaz as a mother. He sometimes wondered if Shrey was really her son. Last night he even discussed this with his mom. He told her how young Shehnaaz looked. All that his mother said back was that he looked older than his age which pissed Sidharth off. She loved teasing her son. Who didn't?
Such a flirt, Shehnaaz thought. She kept on a straight face though she was smiling internally.
"We are friends aren't we?", he questioned.
" I don't think so". BOOM! Burst his bubble of expectations. He had to have a comeback. How could he stay quiet?
" Hahahaha, sharmao mat, sharmao mat. I know hum friends hai. Kal bola nahi par mujhe pata hai ki tum mujhe friend maanti ho", he patted her back. His confidence decreased with the decrease in the intensity of his smile.
" Khud se hi!", Shehnaaz looked at him in disbelief.
" Kahan yaar? Kal toh itni baatein ki humne car mein, haina? Toh hum friends hi hue. Chalo chai peete hain", he said pushing her inside the room. He was being too clingy . Shehnaaz felt like laughing at him and at the same time wanted him to leave. To avoid any further talks, she just agreed to what he said.
Yes, they were friends now. Probably one sided friendship :p
