" Shrey, please go and play with your friends while I talk with your mother", said Mrs. Raj.
Shehnaaz got seated on the chair wishing Mrs.Raj who was Shrey's class teacher a very good morning." Good Morning! You already must have figured out why I stopped you. Well, Mrs. Chawla this is something that came as a shock to me and to every teacher to be honest. You see ,I have been Shrey's class teacher for the last three years now and I see him as my own child. I have to talk about him too but you and Mr. Chawla never looked so....", she started but was soon interrupted by Shehnaaz to not talk about them.
"Ma'am I understand your concern but could we just talk about Shrey. I have very well figured out what you want to say but can we just stick to the concerned topic", Shehnaaz said.
Mrs. Raj was one of her own kind. She had always been good towards the children, treating them as her own. She was somebody who saw the children for who they were. Somebody, who knew their real worth, she brought out the best in them. Well, that itself shows that she was middle aged woman who had been teaching small children for several years now, highly experienced and very well knew the ways to groom them.Shehnaaz had never seen a teacher like her and she did like her a lot.
On the contrary, she liked to gossip a lot and that was something Shehnaaz did not like. Not that it made any difference for her but this time it was about her, She knew that the news about Rishabh and her not being in good terms would be known to every other teacher in the school already and that was one of the reasons everybody thought twice before talking to her.
" I am sorry but I see him as my own child. I fear that the child would lose his innocence too soon and I am afraid to say that you have failed as parents. Don't take it in the other way but I request you to take care of him. Well, being a mother it is you who would know things better but I still wanted to suggest."
This thing pricked Shehnaaz's heart. This would have happened some day or the other but she didn't expect the day to come so soon. Where did she actually fail? Shehnaaz had given all her time to the little one. All her efforts in protecting Shrey from his beast father had gone down in vain. She wished if she could have kept these things hidden from him. She wished that he hadn't witnessed their fights because they were harming him.
But for how long? The truth had to come out! Especially when his father was least bothered about all of this. Isn't parenting supposed to be a joint effort?
" The impact that all of this has on your child is very well visible and I fear what he would grow up to. He has a kind heart. Please protect him. You wouldn't understand how shocked I was to read the letter", Mrs.Raj said with moist eyes. Shehnaaz could understand her concern but she was embarrassed.
" I feel so sorry for you-"
" I must leave", Shehnaaz got up, walking towards the door when she turned back to Mrs Raj who looked worried. "Trust me", said Shehnaaz and walked out of the class. It was becoming difficult for Shehnaaz to sit there with every passing second. She was guilty. She never wanted to be the reason for Shrey's bad childhood.
Shrey had been at his friend's house since they returned from the school. Even Shehnaaz did not mind leaving him there for they lived just next to each other.. She just wasn't able to meet her eyes with him. It was going to be a very long day, she knew.
" Bohot hogaya tumhara. Get out of my house!", Shehnaaz held Shreya's hand, pulling her to the main door, she jerked her hand, resulting in the latter's falling down. Had it been been some other day, Shreya would have made a big scene but she was scared to the core. Shehnaaz seemed a really soft woman to her by her looks and her way of talking. It was true that she was one but this side of her's was bound to come forth. Shreya could not look into her eyes. Her eyes had fire, the fire which would burn her into ashes.
" And You! How dare you!! Bohot hogaya, samaan uthao and out", Shehnaaz was not in her senses. She just screamed and screamed. She was somebody that Rishabh had never seen. She was the real Shehnaaz who was strong and fierce. She was the one who had the guts to fight, fight for herself. For a person like Rishabh this still was not enough. He raised his hand to slap her when she held it mid-way. A tigress, she looked into his eyes, " Haath laga ke dekh tu. I won't take it anymore Rishabh Chawla, not anymore", Shehnaaz warned and twisted his hand, kicking him hard as he fell on the floor. He laid on the floor in extreme pain when he said, " Acha nahi hoga".
Shehnaaz feared nobody. She had already suffered a lot. Now when she had finally gathered up the courage to fight. how could she fail herself? Sitting on the floor, she gathered her knees, holding them together. She spoke in a low voice. " Kya acha nahi hoga? Haat uthaoge? Ghar se nikaaloge? Or would you force yourself on me yet again? Aaj tak izzat hi kitni ki hai?"
Shehnaaz could feel a lump forming in her throat. It was hard to swallow. It was hard for her to stop her tears. Tears of blood. She bit her lips, preventing those built up emotions to burst out. It was high time that she put a stop to Rishabh's activities for it had already been late now. She realised it then.
You have spoiled my life. I have no reason to live. Bas Shrey ke liye saansein chal rahi hai. Mai chale gayi toh bacha zinda hi na rahe kyunki tumhe toh parwah nahi hai na", she was crying. " Mereko kabhi izaat nahi di. Apne bete ko baat baat mein taane maare. Apne bete ke saamne you get multiple women at home. What do you want him to grow up to?"
Kam se kam you could have thought about Shrey. Chota sa bacha hai who. Pata bhi hai tumko what has he written in his papers. Pata bhi hai what impact do you have on your child. Kabhi baat bhi kiya hai apne bete se? Why would you? Apne se kabhi fursat mili toh na", Shehnaaz spat out the truth. Her voice started to rise with every sentence." , Shehnaaz said all that she read in his paper except Sidharth.
" I was never this way, Rishabh. You have made me so. Mai hurt nahi hoti? Mere feelings nahi hai? I want love. I have longed for love. I want my husband to respect me. I want my husband to support me. I do not want money. Mereko bas khushi chahiye. Jo tumne kabhi di nahi mujhe. Mujhe koi aisa chahiye jo mujhe samjhe. Jab mai galtiyan Karun toh mere saath unhe suljhaaye. I need somebody who accepts me for who I am for I am a human and I am flawed" with this she threw the vase against the wall, breaking it into pieces.
Rishabh got up from the floor, with words none. He tried grabbing her from the arm, pulling her to his room, while her petite figure struggled to come out of his grip. It was difficult. Nothing could pierce the man's thick skin. Her words, as usual meant nothing.
