I'm still an angel ,
I just have black wingsAndre woke up from his nightmare, the ones he had each night about the girl with, raven black hair, bloody eyes and murderous intent. His therapist called her 'Demon child'.
His parents died, when he was very young, he can't remember much about their death and he honestly doesn't want to, he believes that if he pretends to not know anything, the people that killed his parents won't come after him and Damien.
He got out of bed and took a shower, he got dressed for work and headed downstairs.
"Good morning Nina! Good morning Stephanie" he greeted
Nina and her aunt Stephanie were his childhood friends and flatmates, Stephanie had been acting as their guardian since she met them."Where's Damien?" Nina asked with flushed cheeks
"Uhmmm.... He didn't come home last night, I thought he spent the night at your flat?" Andre said worried.
"He didn't!!" Nina exclaimed
Everyone went into a brief frenzy, before the door clicked and Damien walked in, with his jet black hair messy and dark circles around his eyes, he looked like he hadn't slept for days.
"Where were you? Do you know how worried we were!?" Andre asked angry and worried, after his parents died, Andre knew that it was his job to raise Damien, despite being just 6 years older than him.
"At the library" He lied.
"What were you doing there so late?" Andre asked again.
"Preparing for our surprise test today!" Damien lied again.
"You guys have a surprise test today?" Andre asked Nina, she looked at Damien, though his expression was null, she knew what he was thinking.
"Ye...yeah ...we d-do" she said with a fake but wide grin.
"Alright, but call next time, I need you to be careful" Andre said and placed his hands on his little brothers shoulders, Damien nodded and shrugged them off before going upstairs to their flat.
"Guys, it's 8:00, we need to open up" Stephanie said, Stephanie his kind old flatmate, owned a bakery that the four of them had been running since they were much younger, it was just across their flat house.
Andre and Stephanie went on with the bakery work and Damien and Nina began to walk to their school.
"Where were you? Honestly?" Nina asked and Damien stayed silent.
"You know, I really had your back earlier, don't I deserve to at least know why I lied?" She breathed. He remained quiet, but this time he dragged her into a corner and pulled out something from his bag, her eyes examined it and they widened.
"Damien, are... are you on drugs?" She asked and he rolled his eyes.
"Of course not, this isn't just any drug, its serione!"
"What's that?"
"Do you know what doping is?" He asked and she shook her head
"It's when someone takes drugs to enhance their physical abilities, mostly in sporting activities."
"Serione, is like that, but not only does it enhance your physical abilities, it enhances your whole senses!"
"Okay, but it still doesn't explain why you have it!" She said and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Think Nina, This isn't some kind of hard drug that's mixed up by an ordinary chemist or drug dealer, this stuff could only come from..."
"The government" she completed his sentence
"Exactly and the government has something to do with the A.S.S.A institute and those are the bastards that killed my parents" He completed, Nina gave him a glare, everyone especially Andre, had warned Damien severally to stop investigating his parents death but he never listened.
"Andre would kill you." Nina said folding her arms.
"And that's why he won't find out" He said, his eyes void of emotion.
At the bakery, Andre was baking some jelly filled cookies when a customer walked in, he saw it was his best friend, Shirley, Shirley was a beautiful caramel skinned lady, she was tall and slender with a curvy figure. They met when Andre's parents died, she was the daughter of the detective that promised to find his parents killer, but never did.
"Shirley, welcome" Andre beamed
"My Prince!" she ran to his arms and hugged him
"How was work?"
"Tiring, its not easy being a CEO of 2 different companies" she sighed and Andre just smiled, he knew his best friend and how she unintentionally bragged.
She's been like this since they were kids, she always let the other kids know that she was the daughter of a detective and they had to pay their respects."Now unto something more serious, when are you going to ask me out?" Shirley asked.
"I'm not-"
"ready for a relationship yet." She completed "I know, I'm willing to wait for you, no matter how long it takes, I love you Andre." She said placing her soft hands on his. His response was a small smile and they moved on with their conversation.
Hours passed by and Shirley left, Andre cared about Shirley a lot, but he didn't love her that way, it's impossible for him to love anyone that way, 'I have too many demons, I can't share them' he would always say to himself and he was right.
But Little did he know he was going to have an encounter with someone far scarier.
