The first cry of the sweet little creatures taking a flight under the cold breezy atmosphere broke Manik's peaceful sleep. He pulled his arms wide and stretched them with a deep yawn, the bright luminosity of the azure sky kissed his face. He sat in bed admiring the blueness of the endless sky as the golden warm blanket of sun rays veiled his face, the breeze tickling the strands of hair adoring his forehead.
The morning was perfect. Zeal and enthusiasm came to him in ripples. Manik slid out of the bed as his mouth stretch side to side in a cute grin to the effect of the cold weather.
He stood at the window and watched the lovely scenery outside. His apartment was located in one of the most sophisticated areas of Francisco. Beautiful buildings, green lawns by the side of a grey concerted street was bemusing.
He missed his family every moment, but this leisurely lifestyle and the cause why he was here kept him surviving in this alien place.
Manik stretched his arms one more time before he twirled toward the washroom. There was no line of worry nor the regret of what happened last day. He had long forgotten it as the night befell on him.
Manik didn't care about it at all. He was alright. So alright that he whistled on his way to the interior of the bathroom— totally unfamiliar of Something that
was about to happen. An uncompromising event was waiting in the womb of time to explode.
To be born. To come and to happen. To make regret and the zeal he had readily started his morning with.
A bomb was waiting to go off...an
explosion.A volcano was eagerly waiting to fountain out an eruption!
He came out wiping his head, the whistles continued to outflow. He halted across the mirror, watching at himself as he continued the activity of drying off the warm droplets of water, which has now started making him feel cold since the window was wide open, and the cold breeze worried his skin.
He was quick and steady, he was dressed in office wears and ready to leave. His breakfast happened in the canteen with other people like him, who arrived earlier and relished their morning meals together rather than having it alone in their rooms, PGs or apartments.
They have developed a lovely bonding that Manik was ready to keep alive as much as he can, and how ever possible.
And here he was, at the office building. Without thinking much, he padded right for the canteen. The excitement was visible on his facade. The excitement of seeing his office buddies and sharing their morning meals together.
Unfortunately that was when it happened, the uncalled moment of regret for Manik occurred. Occurred in the form of disarray.
"What's wrong?" by watching at the prevailing silence in the canteen between slow whispers, he walked to one of his friends who were visible.
"Hey, Manik," Raj, a finance manager, tall heighted, clean shaved and neck length curly haired guy, turned to look at him with a dreadfully pale facade.
The indefinitely rusted colour of his skin thrilled Manik. A knot settled in his stomach as he stopped before his friend, his eyes scanning at the area around. There were like majority of their employees gathered in the hall, all forming small groups of discussion. Their faces, a flustered fallen face as if they heard a news of someone's unpredictable demise.
"Why is everyone here so early? It's barely 6.45am, and people don't appear any time before 7.30am. What chaos is this about?" interrogated Manik, his eyes still observing the fellow coworkers around.
Oblivious of the happening that took place the other night, he sought to read everyone's features. They were slumped, tired and disheveled. From their gestures, it looked like they have not slept the whole night.
That was the case indeed which manik learned not before his friend Raj announced, "You don't know?"
"Know what?"
"The attack?"
"What attack?" he was quick with his replies.
"Manik you really don't know about it?"
"About what exactly, Raj?" Manik brought his eyes on Raj's face and looked at him.
He looked as clueless as a newborn baby bird. And that didn't remain as his expressions post Raj's further acknowledgement. Rather, Manik was left nothing but stunned with stilled eyes, dry throat and skipping heart, and shaking in an improbable aura.
"Our CEO, Ms. Nandini was fatally attacked last night in her cabin while she was working late. She is currently admitted in the hospital, fighting her death!"
"Life is a living hell... When you think it's not going to hurt you, it hurts you at the same time— with double trauma and tears associated"
