"It's alright, come on in."
I walk in shyly, trying my best not to look at the other students that are most likely staring at me. Why did I have to get lost? But then again, if I hadn't gotten lost, Christian wouldn't have asked if I wanted to sit with him and his friends. I wonder why he asked.
"Let me see your schedule please. I just need to write down your information." I hand him my schedule and as he's looking it over, I take a second to look at what's happening in the class. It seems like they still hadn't started class since there was nothing on the board. Mr. Stanley's desk isn't very neat. There's papers spread across the desk and there's at least five books on his desk.
"Okay. Let me just introduce you and then you can take your seat." He says to me before turning to the class. "Everyone, this is Elizabeth Flynn. Now it is her first day and I expect you all to be nice to her. Elizabeth, you can sit in the back next to Mr. Wright. He's not in class today but I have a feeling you will see him today, since it seems you two have the same schedule." Does he mean Christian? Is Christian 'Mr. Wright'?
"Uhm. Okay." I say quietly and walk towards the back of the class trying not to look at anyone. I point towards a desk and give Mr. Stanley a questioning look. He nods so I assume it's not 'Mr. Wright's' desk and sit down. I finally look at all the other students and I only see one girl looking at me. She looks familiar... OH. She's one of the people from the skater group I saw earlier.
"Okay everyone, since I have to finish this paper for my administrator, you guys are going to be watching The Crucible. You guys can move your seats if you would like." The girl I saw looking at me immediately came over and sat in the seat next to me.
"Uhhh. Hi?" I say, making it sound like a question.
"Hi! I'm Ally Turner. I saw Christian talking to you and that woman earlier so I thought if I saw you again I'd say hi. I mean it's your first day and all so I figured you could use a friend. Do you want to be friends?" She said all of this so quickly it was a bit difficult to understand.
"S-Sure. I'd love to be friends. I'm E-Elizabeth Flynn. Which you probably already knew b-because Mr. Stanley introduced me." Wow Elizabeth. Way to point out the obvious. She starts to giggle a bit.
"I did know that already but I'm glad you confirmed it. Wouldn't want to become friends and then find out later down the road that your real name is something like..." She seems to be thinking. "Geoffrey Whistlecott."
I laugh, "Geoffrey Whistlecott? What a name. One could only hope to have a name like that."
She laughs again. "I knew I'd like you. Once you become less shy with someone, you stop stuttering and joke around with them. I'm surprised you warmed up to me so quickly." So am I. That's the second person I've warmed up to quickly today. I wonder what's going on. This isn't normal.
I try to think of what to say next but she beats me to it. "Do you have anyone to sit with at lunch?"
"Uh yeah, I do. Ch-Christian asked me to s-sit with him and h-his friends." Damn. I'm stuttering again.
She raises her eyebrows. "Your stutter is back," she says while furrowing her eyebrows, "Is there something going on that I should know about?"
"What? No, of course not. I don't even know his last name."
"Wright."
"See there can't possibly be anything going on since I don't even know his last name."
She rolls her eyes. "No I mean his last name is Wright. He is who will be sitting next to you tomorrow."
So it is him..
