I have my schedule. Aunt Nikki has left me and of course, I am lost. Ugh. Why didn't I accept the map Ms. Hamilton tried to give me? I can be very stupid. That's why. I don't even see anyone in the halls. They're empty. But that makes sense seeing as the bell for first period to start rang about ten minutes ago. I'm suppose to be in Mr. Stanley's room for English but I can't find it.
I wasn't paying attention while I was walking and rammed right into someone's chest. "Ow." I heard. I look at who I just walked into so I can apologize till I look up and my apology is stuck in my throat. It's the guy that walked me and aunt Nikki to the main office earlier. What was his name again?
"Ch-Christian." I probably should've said something other than just 'Christian'.
"What?" Christian asks with what sounds like disbelief in his voice. He has a weird look on his face. It looks like a mix of disbelief and confusion."What was your name again?"
"I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention. It's all my fault. I should've been paying more attention. I'm so sorry" I say so quickly he probably didn't understand me.
"It's whatever. What's your name?" Oh yeah. I guess I was so busy apologizing that I forgot he asked me a question.
"It-it's Elizabeth. Elizabeth F-Flynn." I manage to say. I hate that I stuttered. Why do I have to be so shy? Why is he still talking to me?
"Well Elizabeth Flynn, aren't you suppose to be in class?" he asks with a knowing smile.
"I-I'm lost." I need to stop freaking stuttering, he's going to think I don't know how to talk.
He sighs. "Give me your schedule." I hand it to him quickly and just stand there not knowing what to do as he looks at it. "Oh look at that. We have the same schedule."
Did he just say what I think he said? No. He couldn't of said that. "What did you say?"
"We have the same schedule." So he did say that. Oh no. I can tell this is going to be a long day.
"Come on. I'll drop you off at Mr. Stanley's room.
"I'm not a child you're dropping off at daycare." He starts laughing. "Why are you laughing?"
"Did you not hear what you just said?" What did I say...? OH.
"Please tell me I didn't say that out loud." Oh God this is embarassing. I need to learn to keep my comments in my brain rather than saying them.
"I can't tell you that because you did." he says with a laugh.
"Well damn." He starts laughing. "I said it out loud again, didn't I?"
"Yup." He says popping the "p". He starts walking down a hallway I hadn't checked yet.
"Great.." I say, following him.
"Hey, at least you aren't stuttering anymore. I guess you just find it extremely easy to talk to me." Huh. I hadn't noticed I stopped stuttering. I really do feel comfortable with him for some reason.
"Yeah okay. Let's go with that." He gives me a look that makes me think he's surprised I'm talking to him like this. To be honest, I'm surprised I am too. I usually only talk to people I am close with this normally. It's weird for me to be talking to him like this.
"What? You don't find it easy to talk to me?" He says with a smirk.
"It's unusual for me to be talking like this."
He stops in front of a door. "Well, here you are. Mr. Stanley's room. Don't want you being even more late. Get in there."
"Wait. I thought you said you had class with me?"
"Ahhh. So you do listen." I roll my eyes. "I do have this class with you but I was on the way to the office when I saw you looking lost, so I figured I should help you."
"Oh. Okay. Well. Thank you."
"You're welcome. I'll see you next period."
I start reaching for the door until I hear, "Hey, do you have anyone to sit with at lunch?" I give him a flat look. "Oh yeah. Of course you don't. It's your first day and I'm pretty sure you've only met me and Ms. Hamilton." He says. "Well, why don't you sit with me and my friends at lunch. You can even show them your cute little stutter." He says with a smirk.
"Uhm. Yeah. Okay. That'd be nice."
"Alright. I'll see you next period. Try not to get too lost. Don't want to have to go looking for you." That's the last thing he says to me before walking off.
I roll my eyes at this and reach for the door yet again and knock. The door opens to reveal Mr. Stanley.
"Well hello. You must be Elizabeth. Did you get lost? You're 15 minutes late."
"I-I'm sorry. I was l-lost."
"It's alright come on in."
