"Are horror movies today getting better or worse?"
BETTER.
I wholly agree with that statement. From 2015 to this year, there seems to be an uptick in the overall quality of horror films. Get Out (2017) achieved a notable achievement when it won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and revived the Black horror genre. Other examples of modern classics include Hereditary (2018), Midsommar (2019), the It movies (2017 and 2019), and Us (2019), to name a few. And the best part? Things are only going to get better.
