I am woken up by the sound of a loud crash and a heart wrenching scream.
" FUCK!!!"
I get up and start running to what I presume to be the location of a disaster that I'm not ready to witness.
Before I have a chance to get a glance of the mess, I am being attacked into a hug by a girl.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to I swear!"
"Didn't mean to what?"
There are 2 girls, both of which I have never seen before. The girl lets go of me and looks at who I presume to be her friend. I take this time to see what's been broken. It's a set of plates.
"You see Laura, um I might have been distracted and dropped the plates?"
"Yasmine are you kidding me! Asher is gonna kill you. "
"Oh please, that boy loves me too fucking much."
I look between them. Both are drop dead gorgeous, and seem to have the same grunge style. I decide it's time to interrupt them.
"Excuse me but, who's Asher and what exactly are the three of you doing in my house?"
"I'm Yasmine, Asher is my boyfriend, this is Laura, and actually there's 4 of us. Brad's outside. "
" We're here with some stuff you lost at the Airport. We're the delivery." Laura adds in.
"You're the delivery ?"
"Well no. Our boyfriends are, we are just help. Well I should probably "
Yasmine has jet black hair that goes all the way down her back and stops just below her tailbone, which highlights her tall frame. She has dark brown eyes and full lips. Even with glasses, she is more than breath taking.
Laura is the complete opposite, with her short blonde hair and light blue eyes. Either way, they are both gorgeous and I feel underdressed in my loose PJ pants and my I Love New York hoodie.
Another person walks in the room, only this time it's a guy. He has short black hair and ocean blue eyes. He's wearing a t-shirt that shows off his strong, tattoo covered arms. I assume he is Asher, my assumptions are proven to be correct when he walks up to Yasmine and wraps his arm around her waist.
"Who's this?"
It takes me a minute to realize that he is talking to me.
"April. I'm April."
"Well April I don't have any time to waste so if you don't mind signing this paper saying that we did our job so we can be on our way, it would be highly appreciated."
How charming.
I take the paper and sign it quickly.
"Thanks."
He turns around and starts heading for the door.
"Yas, Laura lets go."
"We're coming..."
Yasmine waves at me and says a quick good bye and walks out with Asher. Laura on the other hand, doesn't.
"I'll see you around. It's a small town, we will probably even be going to the same school."
"Um, yeah..."
"Well it was nice meeting you April. Sorry about the plates."
She doesn't stay a moment longer as she gets up and walks out, closing the door behind her. I hear the roar of a truck engine, which slowly fades away indicating that they have left.
I look out the window and my thoughts become a reality as I find out I'm home alone. Like always.
I decide to make myself something to eat and watch some tv.**************
I must've fallen asleep on the bubble wrapped couch because I am being shaken awake by my mother.
"April honey? Your father and I have something for you outside."
" Something for me?"
"Why do you sound so surprised?"
"No reason."
I get up and follow her out the door and to the front of the house. Only then do I realize that we are surrounded by clear land and fences. I don't know how I feel about this.
"Sweetie?" My father calls out
"Huh?"
"Look over there honey" My mother points far into the left side of the field.
I squint in the direction of her finger but I can't see anything. That is until it starts moving. I can't believe my eyes, there's no way I'm seeing this right. I quickly look back at my parents.
"You didn't..."
"Oh but we did..."
I pull my dad into a tight hug and he starts to laugh. I quickly run over to the fence and climb over it and make my way to something I have missed terribly. Milo. My horse.
***********
After a couple hours of riding I give Milo a kiss and head back inside.
The minute I walk in, I hear my parents arguing. Most probably about whether or not an iPhone 7 should be an option.
I knock about 5 times before they acknowledge my presence. My father stops what he's doing and looks at me.
"Yes April?"
"Well um... I was wondering if someone could come in and build a small barn... It's getting closer to winter and I don't want Milo out in the cold..."
"Yes of course dear we have already scheduled for someone to come in Friday while your at school and make the measurements. It will take a couple months to be built though sweetheart."
School starts Friday? That's not in 5 days. That's in 1.
"Wait school starts Friday??"
"Yes. I thought you knew that sweetie."
"No Father. You never mentioned that to me. How am I supposed to get ready for school in 1 day, tomorrow's thursday Father. Thursday. That gives me 1 day. I don't even know how to get to school!"
"Honey relax, Im sure your Father has everything figured out. "
"Don't tell me to relax Mother! Your not the one that starts everything from scratch in 1 fucking day!"
"April! Watch your language! Your Father and I will figure something out."
"Yeah, like moving ?!"
I don't give them a chance to reply and I walk out and up the never ending stairs. I get into my room and slam the door. I let out a frustrated scream before I fall down and start to cry.
You know when your holding everything in and it's at that very moment it gets too much and you just can't hold it in anymore? That was when I couldn't take it anymore. I don't know how long I was crying but when I had stopped, everything still hurt.
I get up slowly and use every last bit of energy I have, to drag myself into the bathroom. I know for a fact that my room and bathroom are the only things that have been completely unpacked and set up in this entire house and that makes me smile for some unknown reason. I start to undress myself and look in the mirror. 1 day. 1 day and it all starts.
I get into the shower and turn on the hot water. I let it run over my body and stand there as it seeps into me, I start to scrub my hair and body. Once I am satisfied I get out and wrap the towel around my body. I lean over my sink and wipe off just enough steam to see my face in the mirror. I look at myself and I can't help but smile. Maybe tomorrow won't be so bad.
New beginning. New me.
