I wake up to... a vibrating pillow? I, then hear my ringtone and realize my phone is ringing. I moan in frustration, get up and look at the caller, Yasmine. As soon as I press the answer button, my ear is filled with her laughter. Her loud laughter.
"Ash! Stop! I'm on the phone with April!"
"Fine, this isn't over babe!"
I hear silence before she starts to talk again.
"Hey"
"Hey"
"Did I wake you?"
"No no.."
"Okay good, because its 6 o'clock and the party starts at 8."
"It's 6 am??"
"No idiot, its 6pm. I did wake you, didn't I?"
"Maybe?"
"Oh God, you need to get up and ready. Asher and I are going to pick you up at 8."
"Pick me up?"
"You want to ride your bike to a party? and to a house you've never been to?"
"How did you know I ride my bike?"
"Because I'm not blind and it was the only one in the bike racks yesterday"
"True.."
"Okay then, see you at 8, not a second after."
I hear a click and I know she hung up. I get up and start walking to my bathroom, I wash my face a couple of times before it dawns to me what I just agreed to. A car ride, a freaking car ride. What am I supposed to say when I croak? I can't get into one. But I have to or else they will know somethings up and I'm not ready to tell anyone. Especially people I just met.
I start the shower, and let the water it heat up while I pick what I'm going to wear to the party. I walk over to my closet and decide to go with a simple pair of black shorts, a loose red top with black stripes, with my usual converse and jacket. I grab my newly chosen clothes and place them on my bathroom counter. I undress myself and step into the hot shower and smile as the hot water massages my body with just the right amount of pressure.
I walk out and start to dry, once I'm done I wrap my hair with the towel and start to get dressed. I put on put on my outfit, minus the jacket, and apply my daily make-up: simple eyeliner and mascara with a dark shade of red lipstick . I unwrap my hair from the towel and decide to let it dry naturally into its waves. When I look in the mirror, I'm happy with my choices.
I slide into my jacket and grab my phone from the charger and stuff it in my pocket. I look in the mirror one last time before I make my way downstairs. I walk into the kitchen and grab a water bottle from the fridge. I don't know if I will be drinking tonight but if I do, I'm going to need something to bring me back to earth a little.
I check my phone. 7:30. I have 30 minutes until Yasmine and Asher get here. My stomach gurgles, l think cereal will do the trick and quickly make myself a decent amount. I finish it as fast as I can and start washing the plate. My phone vibrates in my pocket and it scares the living daylights out of me. The plate slips out of my hand and I hear it shatter.
"Well shit."
I grab the closest towel I can find and start drying my hands. I examine the mess in the sink and decide to clean it later. Then, I grab my phone and answer it.
"April. Out.Now."
Nothing else is said and the line goes dead. I start to make my way out the door and I see a black truck start to pull up. Its a nice pickup truck that looks brand new, 2 years at the most. Yasmine pulls down her window and starts yelling at me.
