Mr. Olson owned a small restaurant in the town of Victor. He loved cooking food for the townspeople and to see them enjoy his food made his day even better. There was this one customer that he worried about. This customer was an eight year old named Tommy. Earlier that week Tommy had told Mr. Olson that he was going to run away from his family. Tommy had said that his parents argued and sometimes it got physical.

"Tommy if you ever need anything you can come to me." said Mr. Olson.

"Mr. Olson... I don't think my momma's ok."

"What do you mean?"

"Well," whispered Tommy, "The last time I tried talking to my momma she yelled at me and I was just trying to ask her if I could help her cook dinner."

"Maybe she just had a bad day.""

DING DONG!!!

Officer Wallace walked into the diner and sat down next to Tommy. Officer Wallace was talking to Tommy and Mr. Olson overheard this:

"Tommy, where are your parents?" asked Officer Wallace.

"I decided to run away. They kept fighting each other and I couldn't handle it. I got tired of trying to break up their fights. I would always get hurt in the end. I am too afraid to go back to that place. I will never return."

"How are your parents now?"

"The last time I saw them, my mother had bruises on her face and my dad had a broken arm."

"Why were they so violent? Did anything fuel their anger?"

"My dad has cheated on my mom while he was supposed to be at work. My mom got really sad and locked herself in her room for weeks. My mom wanted something called a divorce."
