Alessandra sat on her bedroom floor, surrounded by stuffed animals. She held a microphone that was connected to a karaoke machine.

"I can show you the world. Shining, shimmering, splendid," she sang.

Alessandra had no one to perform to and her only friends were the inanimate objects that were lying in front of her. Sometimes she just wished they could speak to her and have fun all day. The reality was the opposite of all Alessandra wished for. All she got was loneliness.

She lived in a cabin that was on the outskirts of town and the cabin was in the forest. The only neighbors were at least 13 miles out. There was no one for her to socialize with. The only people in her house were the maid and her parents. The maid, Ms. Knightley, would only talk to her if required.

Both of her parents worked as doctors at the O'Connor Clinic in town. They were Mrs. and Mr. Josue. The clinic was a quaint place. It had once been an office building owned by Karlin Corporation until they moved down the street to an even bigger area.

She had heard about the Karlin family while she was eavesdropping on one of her parents' conversations. She was playing teatime in the kitchen when a loud noise came from the stairs. Alessandra leaped up from her toy chair and ran over to see what was going on. It turned out that Ms. Knightley had dropped the china that she was bringing over to Mrs. Josue. She accidentally spilled some water and slipped.

"Here let me help you. Are you alright Ms. Knightley? Do I need to get my parents?" asked Alessandra.

"I'm ok, miss. I just need to sit down."

She offered her hand to Ms. Knightley, which she gladly accepted. Once Alessandra got her to sit on a ottoman in the living room, she walked over to the closet. She was on a mission to find the towels and a trash bag. She found an assortment of cleaning supplies on the floor, along with some coats and jackets hanging from a pole that was mounted on the walls. Beneath a denim jacket, she spotted the trash bags and towels.

"There you are!" she squealed happily as she grabbed what she needed.

Alessandra hurried back towards the mess near the stairs. Her mother was there examining the scene.

"What have you done? Why is my most expensive china shattered on the floor?" inquired her mother. There was a slight angriness to her tone but nevertheless composed.

"Um...I was playing ball in the living room and I threw the ball into the hallway. It bounced off the wall and hit Ms. Knightley while she was delivering your afternoon tea. Please do not blame her. It was all my fault." Alessandra lied.

Her head was down with the fear that she disappointed her mother with something she did not do. At least she protected Ms. Knightley. After all, she was better than the last old crone that was maid. She was not so nice.

"It is okay, Alessandra, but please refrain from using the ball inside the house."

Mrs. Knightley stalked up the stairs, not turning around once to look at her.

Alessandra gathered the bits of porcelain that was scattered over the floor and placed them in a black trash bag. She scrubbed the floor to get rid of the spilled tea. She waited until the towel felt as if it could hold no more to get a new one.

She finished and raced upstairs to apologize to her mother. Alessandra was about to knock on the door to her parents' room when she heard someone speaking.

"Your daughter ruined my beautiful china. Do you know how much time it took to get here? It took six months! It was the only thing I inherited from my grandmother," cried Mrs. Josue.
