"I MADE VEGAN MAC N' CHEESE" The words sounded like music to Rory's ears. She was taking off her shoes by the entrance and saw both of her flatmates by the kitchen. Maddie was by the sink, and Ivy was sitting at the island, a bowl of macaroni and a glass of wine in front of her.
"Oh yes" Rory moaned in appreciation as she walked towards the kitchen after dropping her stuff at the entryway bench "I really need comfort food today" She said as she picked up a plate and cutlery.
"Tough day?" Ivy asked before sipping her red.
"It was a really good day, with a plot twist ending" Aurora explained as she sat down on one of the high stools beside Ivy and started to serve herself. The big bowl of mac n cheese was steaming hot and looked yummy, Rory felt her mouth watering.
"Oh, I do love me some plot twists" Maddie said and leaned against the island in front of them two, resting her chin in her palm "Spill it"
"Remember that guy from that god-awful concert we went a few weeks back?"
"The tattooed one?" Ivy asked in between bites.
Rory hummed in agreement while chewing "This is delicious" She said to Madison while the girl served two glasses of wine "But yeah, that one, turns out he's on the team."
"Oh the plot thickens" Madison added while Ivy snickered. They both knew Rory wasn't really big on football players, she'd swore them off because it felt like too much of a hassle - like some a sort of conflict of interest, considering her family background.
All her life, she had only gone out with one other football player - which was a deed, considering that she was always surrounded by a bunch of them. Sean Graham was the running back at Damien's high school team, and they had met at a halloween party during Rory's senior year. They had gone out a couple of times, the guy had been Rory's first many things, but the only reason it had worked out between them was because Sean never had any desire to pursue a career in football. Granted, he had fanboyed over her father the first time Rory took him home, but that was the full extent of it - there was no ulterior motive or underlying intentions. Sean liked her not because of her last name, but rather in spite of it.
"Is he like, a nobody player?" Ivy asked.
"No, not really" Rory admitted and took another bite, chewing it before adding "he's Collin fucking Whitaker, the bigshot wide receiver"
"I thought your cousin was the wide receiver" Ivy said picking up her phone.
Aurora and Madison looked at her in disbelief.
"You know there is more than one player for each position right? I mean, at any sport" Maddie stated matter-of-factly, and Ivy shrugged "But honestly, that's on you, babe," Madison turned to Rory "you should stop paying attention to their stats and start caring for what's underneath their helmets and pads"
"Sure, because that's what the game's all about" Rory deadpanned and gulped down some of the wine Maddie had served.
"It should be, if this guy's anything to go by" Ivy had already pulled Collin's Instagram page and showed it to Madison.
Rory had already done the same thing earlier. After all the guys left her office and Ariella called it a day, she had looked up his name on Instagram and done some snooping. She kept telling herself she was doing it to try and activate the memories of the night they met, but eventually had found herself looking at pictures of the guy back in high school.
If anything, Rory could say time had treated him pretty well.
"You should totally go there again" Madison said showing them a picture where Collin was shirtless in a pool, all model-ish like - the same one Rory had spent at least a full minute staring at earlier "You said it was good, right?"
