Wattpad, You're Failing

So after having been on hiatus for a while, I decided to go through the new updated Wattpad and I just....the old wattpad was better imo.

As has been a problem for a long time, authors like me just get buried under the million reads books that Wattpad's algorithm promotes instead of actual obscure authors.

Trying to find an active book promotional service here is difficult. Then there is the huge lack of support for book promotions from Wattpad staff. Like wtf. You are about writing. FUCKING LET US PROMOTE OURSELVES.

Then there is the very shitty community on this site. A lot of people I have met are total assholes. I can't believe just how damn toxic the writing community can be. Most users on this site specifically seem to enjoy going through and ruining people's days by leaving horrible comments on their works.

I won't lie. My stupid adhd has made me leave toxic comments long ago but I have worked damn hard to stop that. I won't claim to be perfect.

To add to the shit pie, the algorithm in general is super fucked up. It is like they let a toddler make it. A lot of you know what I am talking about. I am uncertain how to explain it since I have never given a damn about their fucked up algorithm.

Getting rid of communities was stupid as fuck. There were places where we could promote our works and actually get the attention we were searching for. Now that opportunity is gone.

The staff say they are there to help but they're fucking not. They didn't fucking help when I had a stalker haunting me and sending me horrible fucking messages.

"Just mute them blah blah blah" That mute button doesn't do shit. This part of why it is hard to navigate Wattpad safely.

There needs to be a big ass block button ready to be clicked at all times.

I am pretty sure staff have gotten too absorbed by fame from the site's popularity even if it is pretty fucking minor fame. Just because you work for wp doesnt mean you get to fucking neglect your site users.

We are more than just fucking numbers.

We all deserve an equal fucking chance to get noticed, to get the spotlight, to get traffic on our works.

Why did they make it so damn difficult to be a writer here? I hate being on this site now because of the bullshit.

I have had better luck on other sites. Usually I can easily get a couple of reads of not more first day of publishing. Here, it usually takes a year to just get 20 reads. Even after desperate promoting and other measures like commenting on and reviewing other people's works.

Am I too much for you readers yet?

The censorship is also ridiculous. I don't feel safe typing my books with erotic scenes here. They're all in unpublished drafts. Except for one.

If you are looking to be able to post erotica with more welcoming guidelines, check out Inkitt. It is a friendlier and writer-friendlier site.

Ugh. I have so much to rant about this time around because I am fed up with the shit Wattpad has given to us under the pretense of "Become a great writer through our site! You can get a spotlight on the main page! You can have a chance to win the wattys! Everyone is equal here!"

The opportunities that used to be around here are gone. I feel so fucking restricted on what I can do to get some traffic on my books.

Wattpad, you're on a fast track to destruction.

If you want traffic, leave and go to Inkitt, deviantart, or another site. Your chances here of being an author of a popular book are slim to none here.

I will still post here on wattpad time to time but most of my work will be Inkitt Exclusive. Such as 18+ chapters.
