Virgil's POV
After setting up my stuff, I made a full list of things I needed to buy for the room before the end of the week. I sat on my bed, sighing. I heard the springs creak under me. Yikes, not gonna be the most comfortable.. but I've had worse.
I began to read the list to make sure I had everything. "Alright, so.. new sheets and bedding, some school supplies, likely something to put my meds in.." "You could just put them in the cabinet in the bathroom." I jumped, startled at the noise.
Logan was leaning in my doorway, arms crossed. "Apologies, I didn't mean to startle you.. again." He did look a little guilty, to his credit. "I mean, there's a medicine cabinet behind the mirror in the bathroom. You could put any medicine you have there." He glanced at me.
I didn't want to trust him, but he seemed sincere.. "I uh, don't trust people with my meds." I rubbed the back of my neck. "I assure you," he held up a hand. "I won't touch them. Although, if you aren't comfortable you of course don't have to." He shrugged. "But the offer is always there." I nodded. "Right.. thanks, I guess." Logan gave a curt nod and walked off.
I finished the list and folded it up, sticking it in my pocket. I grabbed my headphones and connected them to my phone via Bluetooth. Time to go out.
I walked into the living room and found Logan sitting on the couch, typing on his Macbook. I stared at him for a minute before he looked up. "Going somewhere?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. I nodded. "Yeah, I uh, need to buy some things." He nodded. "I'll be here likely for the rest of the night." I nodded, heading towards the door.
Just as I turned the knob, Logan spoke up again. "If you get caught in the rain, let me know. I mean, assuming you don't have a car." Shit. Right. I checked the weather app on my phone. Rainy forecast. 80% chance. I nodded again. "Thanks." I swung open the door and walked out, shutting it tightly behind me. Sighing, I flipped up my hood. I turned and grabbed one of the two umbrellas the school hung by every dorm for the students. Gonna be a long walk.
Logan's POV
I stared at the door. Virgil had left precisely 37 seconds ago, but I was already worried. He was likely going to get caught in the storm, and I doubted he had a car, or even a bike. Hopefully he'd at least be smart enough to take an umbrella.
Closing my laptop, I pulled out my phone and opened Instagram. I had admittedly looked for Virgil prior to us meeting. I wanted to at least know what sort of person my dormmate would be. I glanced at my notification bar, seeing the Instagram icon appear. Swiping down to see my notifications, I read the alert. virgil._.lament added to their story. I tapped the notification and was taken to his profile.
There was a picture of Virgil standing under an umbrella. "walking to the store", the caption read. "pray for me." I noticed the puddles behind him. It's already raining? I stood up, grabbing my keys. So maybe we'd just met, but we were dormmates. Besides, it'd be only polite to offer him a ride. Slipping on my coat, I stepped into my rain boots and walked to my car, shutting off the light and locking the door as I left the dorm.

I sat in my car, checking Virgil's story. He was still in the store. Perhaps I should find some reason to be here instead of just waiting for him. That might unsettle him. Deciding I could afford a quick detour, I pulled up to the nearest drug store. Turning off the car, I walked into the store. I didn't necessarily need anything, but maybe I could find something to do here.
Virgil's POV
I stood in the aisles. I was looking for some Midol to ease the horrible dysphoria-inducing cramps my body had so generously supplied me with today. Once I found it, I quickly grabbed it and tossed it in my basket, not wanting people to see I was buying medicine for menstrual pain. But then again, they might just think I was buying it for a sister or girlfriend. I shook my head and headed to the register.
The cashier quickly scanned my items, barely giving me a second glance. That's a relief. When they finished bagging up my stuff, I took it and turned to walk outside. I pushed open the door, making the bell ring. I flipped up my hood again and began to open my umbrella until someone caught my attention.
"Virgil?" I looked up. Logan. What's he doing here? I waved awkwardly. "Uh, hey- Logan.." He waved back. We both looked up as lightning cracked against the sky. He jangled the keys in his hand. "Would you.. care for a ride back? Unless you have another destination. Or I could uh- take you there instead." I almost laughed. "Um, sure. Thanks." Rubbing my neck, I followed him to what I guessed was his car.
Unlocking the door, he gestured for me to get in the passenger's side. I sat down, gently closing the door. I set my bag on top of my feet. Logan closed his door and turned his key in the ignition. He reached over and for a minute my heart flew into my throat.
He grabbed the seat belt and buckled me in. "Sorry, it doesn't buckle easily and I didn't want you to struggle with it." He leaned back over and buckled himself in. He started the car and pulled out of the parking lot. His eyes were locked on the road, so I looked over at him.
His hands were holding the wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white, and he seemed to have a hint of.. blush? on his cheeks. Blush? Why would he be blushing? I stared at him for a few more minutes until he glanced at me. "Are you okay, Virgil?" "Duh- I uh, yeah, sorry." I looked away. He nodded and returned his eyes to the road.
I leaned into the car door, staring out the window the entire ride. Logan cleared his throat. "There's a party tonight, supposedly. It's being hosted by Roman and Remus Cook on the roof." I froze. Roman and Remus Cook. Those Roman and Remus? I nodded, swallowing the lump in my throat. "Would you.. perhaps, like to attend? We of course don't have to attend together, but I uh.." he trailed off. I glanced at him.
He cleared his throat again. "Anyway, I was wondering if you'd like to go?" I thought about it for a moment. "Sure, why not?" Logan's mouth twitched. A smile? "It's at 7:30, but Roman informed me we could attend earlier." I nodded. "Sounds good." I went back to looking out the window as he continued to drive. Hopefully it won't be too awkward.
