Chapter Fourteen: The Apprentice

(One day, at the Xiaolin Temple)
"Alright, kids, today's exercise will train you to fight against our newest, and most ingenious, enemy." Juno told the monks, standing in front of a pile of large rocks that towered over her. "I'm preparing you all to fight my husband. Now, I know Chase is really powerful, not as powerful as me, of course, but he still has his weaknesses."
"Pretty hard to believe that when the dude can't even die." Raimundo spoke up.
"Just because you can't die, doesn't mean you're invincible." the redhead continued. "Now, Chase's biggest weakness is his pride and his need to be the best, that can work in our favor if we play our cards right. But, for now, today's exercise requires you to race to the top of these rocks and use deception in order to win."
"I get it." Clay said. "You want us to think like an outlaw, so we can beat an outlaw."
Juno just gave a small nod.
"Omi, look to your right!" Raimundo told the shortest monk.
"What is it?" Omi looked. "I do not see anything."
The Brazilian then jumped and landed on his bald head, knocking him down. He raced for the rocks and started to scale them, Omi recovering and following behind him.
"How about a hand, partner?" Clay asked him, holding out his hand.
The Xiaolin Dragon of Water grabbed his friend's larger hand, but he was pulled forward and spun around. The cowboy threw him at Raimundo, making them both fall to the bottom. Kimiko climbed into the lead and Clay chased after her.
"I see." Omi said as he got up, rubbing his head. "You offered me your hand only to deceive me. I have learned my lesson!" he ran for the rock pile and started to climb it swiftly. "I shall never be deceived again!" he quickly over took the lead, passing the female monk.
A lightbulb went off in Kimiko's head, grinning wickedly at the idea she just had. "Ow!" she cried out loudly, grabbing her right leg. "My leg!"
Omi came to an abrupt stop and looked back down at her. He slid down onto the rock she was on.
"Allow me to help you." he told her, offering her his hand.
Kimiko smiled as she took it. Then she tossed him over the side, making him collide with Clay and Raimundo and having them all fall back to the ground. The Japanese girl climbed the rest of the rocks and was now standing on the very top.
"Oh, yeah!" she cheered, jumping up and down in victory.
"Excellent work, Kimiko!" Juno called up to her.
