This Is Who We Are

Chapter 11

He was coming out of the subway always checking his phone for any texts from Jughead but nothing had been received and it must have been over an hour since the memorial ended. He was just exiting when he looked at the railing and saw all types of cold-blooded creatures making their way into the sewers, his best guess was that Doc Conners was back at it again and Pete need to save him.

Spidey slung himself down the main pipes of the sewer coming to multiple openings. He knew that he could use his webs as another early warning system, firing webs down each end he began to make a giant spider web that could catch a man-sized lizard.

He sat there for hours waiting for something to happen, he also had his camera set up on the wall to his right with a web-connected to the trigger. He ended up playing candy crush on his phone because he was so bored. Then he felt his web vibrate, it set him on edge immediately, setting his phone down and stopping the web he grabbed the top of his mask and pulled it back down. He looked and moved towards the tunnel of interest, then a web on his left vibrated then one on his right his spider-sense was going nuts but all the lizards were heading for one tunnel so he followed them as he continued he kept getting the feeling he was being watched, his sixth sense went off alerting him that danger was nearby, turning slowly he saw The Lizard leap down on top of him, Peter grabbed his hand hoping that he could at least stop himself from getting stabbed. Peter grunted as he used all his strength to protect himself.

 "You stopped me once. You won't stop me again," the Lizard said as his fingernails extended. 

"I'm getting stronger every day," he said cutting spidey's chest open. 

Crying out in pain he was able to land a good punch on The Lizard's jaw knocking them both to the ground Peter grabbed his chest inspecting his wound. He shot his hand out expecting a web to come out but his hud said otherwise. Jumping he kicked the Lizard into a freezing pipe knowing that he could Slow Conners down, running he grabbed his camera and jumped down the water treatment pipe hoping he could lose Conners in the sewers. After he was in the water he started to swim with the current, knowing that he had a chance to outrun The Lizard, looking behind him he saw the Docter right behind him. Seeing that he was hitting a dead end he punched through some pipes and got away hearing the monster's roar as he did. Falling out of the overflow Peter could barely breathe, pulling himself to the side he touched his cheat feeling the sting and heat it was producing.

 "Man, that sucked." He said quietly to himself.

Betty was at her laptop doing an overdue English writing piece when she heard the familiar knock on her window telling her that her boyfriend was there. She looked at him and nodded her head telling him it was open

"You know you could always come through the front door." He chuckled at her response. 

"You know my Dad thinks you require sciatica evaluation," her words fell dead as she took in her boyfriend's appearance. 

"Peter! Wh-what happened," she asked helping him over to the couch she had in her room. 

"You should see the other guy, you know the one that turned himself into a giant human Lizard." Peter finished falling into the couch. 

"Hey Betty, I'm making some cocoa you want some cocoa?" they heard her father say. 

Peter hopped behind her bed to hide in case her Dad did come in.
