Chapter 2: Postponing a Celebration

"And how much exactly are we talking about here?"

Crocodile asked the woman at the other line. The woman he calls, Miss All Fashion, for her great knowledge and knack for being a fashionista.

["Oh please, Crocodile... You know in this type of negotiation, we don't talk about money..."] the woman chuckled at the other side.

The woman was, Y/N Newgate, a pretty big deal back when they were in high school. The much bigger deal now that they're adults. She holds connections to legal and illegal parts of the system being Newgate's only daughter. She was the face of the school and nobody did not know about her. Mostly by a good reputation but sometimes, there are just things that don't go unnoticed.

She used to fish them out of trouble.

"I'll suck you dry, fashion," he told her in a teasing manner and the woman just laughed.

["You talk to him about the price. I can handle it but don't trick me. You know how I feel about those."] 

"Fine... I'll handle this for ya'. Thank your God you're a good friend of mine."

["Even if you don't do friends? Hahaha. I'll make sure to pay you back in some way for this favor. I feel bad cause of calling you just to do something for me."]

"Just like in our high school days... But don't mind it, the least I could do."

After all, she was the one who helped him in building a law firm. Her defense was, "You're my friend! You helped me back then by being an inspiration and more! Don't mind it, it's the least I could do!"

He tried his best to give back the money you gave him and other help to get him to build a law firm for himself. Yet all she said was, "Just do me favors from time to time, that would be more than enough."

Of course, he hated that, he had someone to answer to like a boss. But then again he owes you just about everything. You got him out of jail a couple of times back then. You just remind him not to do it again so it wouldn't be a bother. Because of the endless things you did for him when you guys were younger, he couldn't ask for any other woman to answer to.

He asked you a lot of times why and you won't give him a clear answer. You just smile and say, "I'm sure you'd do the same for me if I was in that situation." And he could tell you right then and there that he would not. But maybe those words were the reason why he wanna pay you back so badly.

["Did you just quote me? That was a long time ago! Hahaha... Don't work too hard, I was just planning to give your daughter a freebie at my store."]

Robin, his adopted daughter. 

"Whatever, I'm guessing your family would throw a party? You just came back after all," he said as he got out files concerning multiple crimes. For what? The world may never know. 

Did I mention he was also your family lawyer? You basically have a full law firm in your back pocket. You have a lot of connections at your back.

["I rather have them not but you know how they are. Oh! Maybe it'll be like a reunion but plus my boys' friends! That would be fun!"]

"Yeah... Fun. I'll drop this now, I have to get that him on the move, earlier the better. I wonder why you can't have Smoker in his precinct for this. Just so you know, that bastard would be 10x more annoying since you didn't just contact him first hand."

["I plan on talking to him personally, just give him a heads up on the plan. Plus, you know why I can't talk to Smokes about this... well then bye! See you whenever!"]
