it's been a couple of weeks since clay's 14th birthday. that means, clay had a five year old baby sister and his best friend was 13 years old. speaking of his best friend, she had just gotten home from school.
"hey, mom!" juliana yelled into the house, "i'm home!"
"hi, sweetie! i'm in the kitchen!" her mother yelled back.
before juliana -or juli as her friends and family called her- made her way to the kitchen she kicked off her shoes and took off her backpack.
"i got an A on my algebra test today!" she told her mom as she sat down on the kitchen stool at the counter.
juli may only be 13 and in 8th grade, but she was a smarter kid and was bumped up a grade. she also surpassed most 8th grade, hence why she takes algebra classes despite being an 8th grader.
"that's great!" her mom said as she cut up fruit in front of her daughter.
"yea, it was easier than some of my tests from earlier this year. what are you making?" she rambled to her mother. She happened to do that quite a bit.
"just some fruit." her mom replied.
"oo can i take mine to clay's? i wanted to help him with his work. his mom said he's been needed help with that. plus, i also want to see iris," juli babbled.
"of course you can," her mom said, "your dad is gonna come home later and he's gonna pick up your brother on the way too."
"okay, thanks. i'm gonna go change out of my uniform. love you!" she said as she went upstairs to change.
juli changed from her uniform, which consisted of a navy blue blazer, a white button-up shirt, a blue tie, and a blue and black plaid skirt, into a more casual outfit.
she headed downstairs again, grabbed two bowls of fruit and her backpack then headed next door to clay's house.
"hi, mrs. wilson!" juli shouted to her best friend's mother while shutting the front door with her foot. she then headed into the kitchen to greet his mom.
"hi, sweetheart, " his mother replied, "what brings you here today."
"well, " she started as she set the fruit bowls down on the counter, "i came over to help clay with school because i remember you telling me he needed help with that. i figure he's probably playing a game right now so i brought fruit for before we play. i also wanted to say hi to iris if she's awake!" she rambled for the second time today.
"iris should be getting up from her nap right now so you can definitely play with her today if you want." Mrs. Wilson said.
"thank you! well, i'm gonna go to clay's room now. i'll see you later!" juli said.
clay's mom just smiled as she saw juli head to clay's room with the fruit and her backpack that had her school crest on it.
"hey, clay," she said as she set down his bowl of fruit in front of him, "finish your last game quick we're gonna get started on your work then you can get back on."
"ugh, okay fine, " clay complained sarcastically, "wanna say hi to pandas?"
"sure," she replied. he took his headphones off and gave them to juli.
"hello?" she asked as she put on the headset and sitting down in clay's chair.
"juli!" pandas replied.
"pandas!" she said back.
"what's up?" he asked her.
"nothing much just gonna try to help clay with his schoolwork," she said as ran around a mineplex lobby as clay stood behind her watching the monitor.
"oh no, good luck with that," he said laughing.
"thank you, it'll be hard work but hopefully we'll get it done," she said sarcastically, eyeing clay.
"well, i'm gonna log off now. bye!" he said giggling.
"bye!" she said as she took off the headset.
"why'd you scare him off?" clay whined, hugging juli as she stood up. they stood there hugging each other for a bit.
"he left willingly. plus, we need to start on your homework!" she said, taking her bowl and backpack to sit on his bed

"finally we're done, " Clay said tiredly as he got out of his chair to lay on the floor, face down.
"hey, it's not my fault you decided to wait until the end of the year to finish your homework," she replied sassily putting her stuff into her backpack.
"whatever," he mumbled falling asleep on the floor.
"get in you're bed if you're gonna take a nap," she started, "i'm gonna go play with your sister. bye!"
clay got off the floor to hug juli.
as juli headed downstairs she could hear the laughs of a baby downstairs.
once she got all the way downstairs clay's mom asked her to take care of Iris while she does the laundry. of course, juli said yes. she loved to spend time with clay's baby sister whenever she could, as she doesn't remember her brother as a baby because she was too young to remember.
juli had played with iris before she headed home. she had dinner with her parents and 7-year-old brother.
she headed into her room, changed into pajamas, and drifted off into sleep.
