Chapter 10

A/N: Hey guys! I am so very sorry for being late and inactive for the past week. My part-time job has been hectic and I get home around 10pm everyday, so I haven't had the time to sit down and edit my chapter before uploading. But, now that my part-time job has ended, I'm finally able to upload today! Thank you so much for your patience T^T

Third person POV

"That just leaves Damian and Lexy! Damian has always been the cheeky one to challenge Lexy; just what would the duo be doing for us this year?" The male commentator said.

"Lexy makes the first move. It seems like she's going for a big one. Would we be graced with a tube from Lexy today? Damian follows close behind, and he's smiling so cunningly! He is eight years older than her; what a way to pick on the young!" The female commentator teased.

Lexy did a duck dive and was up on her feet in no time, with a perfect stance and balance. She could hear Damian laughing behind her, the pressure on her back. She had to find a way to throw him off. She started with a basic carve, then an intermediate cut back, gaining applause from the crowd on the beach.

She couldn't see what Damian was doing behind her, but it never bothered her one bit. "It looks hot out on the waves now; Damian is cutting in real close! And there it is! A snap that puts him in the front. Just what would Lexy do now?" The male commentator gasped.

Lexy clicked her tongue in annoyance. She was planning something big, and she needed to be up in front. "What a turn of events, the wave is curling up. Would this be a chance or curse for the both of them? We've lost them in the tube! Hang on just a minute, their silhouettes! Lexy has emerged first after the tube!" The crowd celebrated, and Hinata was mainly confused.

"The current and waves in the tube are challenging to handle, especially when there's someone else inside. For Lexy-neesan to overtake Damian-san inside is an extremely difficult thing to do," Miguel explained. Hinata was shocked to hear and continued to watch on.

Lexy's heart was beating crazily, adrenaline pumping through her veins. Her mind was in the clouds now, and everything was muscle memory. It's now, or never, Lexy thought to herself. She tipped her board upwards, sending her to the top of the waves. She skidded right on top, never dropping to the other side. "What a sight from Lexy! A floater that takes years to master, a prodigy, I tell you! Prodigy!" The commentator was starting to lose his mind.

With a deep snap, she leaned forward, cutting deep near the bottom of the wave. She mustered her strength and tilted upwards at the last minute, sending her flying above the wave. She clutched onto her board, pulling her weight to spin her board around. "And aerial spin! A complete 360°! Oh my goodness! Damian isn't giving up at the back; he's breathing down her neck! Just what could these two not do?" The crowd was crazy, and everyone was jumping up and down.

The calm and collected mother of Lexy was already bawling next to Hinata. Miguel was absolutely stunned as well. Hinata wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew the flowers of Lexy's practice and training were blossoming.

This isn't enough; Lexy's mind was suddenly going into overdrive. One more time, she thought to herself. She took a deep breath, carving up the wave again.

"Is this? Is she?" The commentator was at a loss for words. "Yes, she is! She's on the rift, and she's on her toes! And there she goes! A freaking handstand on the board! Inhumane! Totally inhumane, but she's done it! Her exit! A perfect front flip and into the depths of the sea! What a gorgeous set, absolutely breathtaking!" The female commentator shrieked in excitement.

Lexy popped her head out of the water just as Damian finished his routine. She clung onto her board, panting hard. The most insane stunt she's ever done and probably never doing it again in her life. Damian popped up beside her, admitting defeat straight away.
