Izuku watched as Mic slowly lost his mind trying to explain basic English pronunciation to Kaminari. Izuku was good at soaking up information; he hadn't been to school in years yet still maintained near-perfect grades. He wasn't struggling to keep up with his school work as much as some of his peers.

The class was restless, eyes constantly darting to the clock in the corner; all Izuku wanted to do was get a breath of fresh air. He and Katsuki were having a tree-climbing competition at lunch, so he had to prepare for his victory speech. When the bell finally rang, it took less than a second for every student in the room to pack away their books and head to lunch. Izuku and Katsuki were the first two out the door; they headed outside to settle their score.

They had been neck and neck since they were toddlers, and it was finally time for Izuku to prove that he was the best climber. They could still hear the press bustling around outside the gates; he didn't have time to worry about them though, he looked up at the trees, all the same height, and shape. There would be no disputing his win. Izuku looked at Katsuki as he smirked down at him. He clearly thought he was winning this.

"Smile all you want, Kacchan; you won't be smiling when I beat you to a pulp." Katsuki threw his head back and laughed, "whatever, Izu, first to the top wins?"

Izuku shed his shoes, jacket, and tie. He rolled his shoulders and set a determined look on his face. "right, on the count of three."

They move to stand at the base of their respective trees, "and no quirks."

"Three." he crouched slightly, ready to jump to the first branch. "Two." He cracked his knuckles.

"One-" He was cut off by the overwhelming feeling that something wasn't right. A cold feeling surrounded his body, and he understood. Katsuki didn't have time to jump to the first branch before Izuku grabbed him.

"Izuu what the fu-! Wait, what's wrong??"

"Katsuki, listen to me carefully. I need you to walk away normally, don't run, walk, and I need you to go tell Nezu that the school is in danger and to send the pros. It is not the press, do not argue with me; we don't have time. Once you are inside, run as fast as you can."

"Izuku?"

He set an unrelenting look on his face, "Bakugou. Leave."

Katsuki knew him well enough to not argue with him; he turned and left with no further objections. Izuku grabbed his schoolbag off the grass and ripped it open. He knew he probably shouldn't, but he always carried parts of his vigilante uniform with him.

He quickly put on his weighted and reinforced Chaos shoes and shoved his uniform pieces in his bag. Izuku jogged over to the main gate; he stood a few inches from it and waited. It was only a few seconds before the gate crumbled to dust; he didn't have time to think, he had to be fast.

He punched his hand through the crumbling gate and gripped an arm. He couldn't see through the dust and debris, but the burning pain traveling through his hand told him he had grabbed the right person. Before he could pull them to him, he was torn through the air and surrounded by swirling purple air. He blinked and was in the teacher's filling room.

Face to face with Tomura Shigaraki.

Red eyes met green, murder and hate seething to the surface.

"Izuku. Fucking. Midoriya."
