**************************************

I was alone. I was cold. I was scared.

But I would get through this.

After the good two hour ride to Buk-gu, Jin dropped me off a few minutes walk from the carnival. Under Taehyung's order, according to what Jin said. He had given me a weapon, a small gun that I had instantly put in the back of my jeans, against the small of my back. I knew how to shoot, Namjoon had taught me, but I wasn't a pro. I wasn't exactly used to it. Then, Jin had explained to me which way to go to reach the port; which I found quite easily.

I noticed several things when I arrived.

The first was that it was completely dark. Midnight was approaching and although there were no customers since the carnival was now closed, some neon lights were still on. I could have said that it made the place warm and enjoyable if I forgot about the mission.

The second was that there were no traces of showmen in the area. They were probably sleeping farther away from the carnival. That's most likely why Hanseul chose this place, knowing there would be no risks.

The third and last thing was...making me shiver in fear. We were at a port.

Near the boats.

Near the water.

And for some reason, I was scared by the water tonight.

It was easy to get rid of the evidence with water.

I sat on a blue bench next to the ferris wheel. I was surrounded by stalls and rides, all of them more or less illuminated. I would be lying if I said that I was calm. No, I was not. Definitely not. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if Hanseul was going to show up or if someone else would come, someone totally unexpected. Because, to be honest, the whole situation was strange. In my ten months of serving the ring, I had never experienced such a mission. It was moments like this that made me realize how the ring Taehyung had created was far from a game, a fad or anything that should be taken lightly.

My phone vibrated on my pocket. I startled and pulled it out.

From: Unknown number

Nice jacket.

I frowned.

To: Unknown number

Pardon?

I stood up and looked around me. The wind was blowing strongly at the end of October and fatigue blurred my sight. I shook my head to regain composure.

"I said, nice jacket."

A violent jolt made me turn towards the voice.

I froze.

"It's really cold, tonight."

It was him. I immediately recognized the man I had seen on video surveillance.

Hanseul.

"I'm here now, tell me what you want," I said, gathering all my willpower not to stutter in spite of my growing anxiety.

The man walked towards me at a slow pace, a strange smile on his face. He was disconcertingly banal. He looked like a regular family man, with no apparent problems, who lived his daily life like any other citizen. But he wasn't. He was a jerk that I had to get to spill the beans about where he hid our fucking weapons. I had to do it for the ring.
