Lily's POV
"I know he didn't mean it, but I can't help but feel angry at him. It wasn't any of his business," I was talking to Mom's gravestone while Shadow sat beside me.
I felt like this was the only place I could go. I didn't want to bother my sisters because I assumed they were busy training for the tournament.
"Do you think I shouldn't have snapped at him? What am I saying? Of course he deserved it! He shouldn't have said anything! But... In his defense, he didn't know. But he still shouldn't have pried!" I said.
I sighed to myself. "I really wish you were here, Mom. I miss you so much..."
Shadow whimpered behind me, sensing my sadness. "Remember when I was sad, you'd feed me cookies? It always made me smile again. Your chocolate chip cookies were better than any store-bought cookies," I giggled at the memory. "I don't know how, but your cookies always managed to put a smile to my face. The tears that would fall down my cheeks would stop and I was happy again." I mentioned.
"Is that so, huh?"
I turned my head to see Ian standing there. My eyes softened and I looked at Mom's gravestone again. "What do you want, Ian? I told you I wanted to be alone." I said.
"I... just wanted to check up on you. And I wanted to apologize. Again." Ian explained. He walked over to where I was and kneeled beside me, closing his eyes.
"What are you doing?" I asked. "I thought I'd pay my respects while I'm here," He said, and opened his eyes.
"Lily, I'm really sorry for what happened to your mother. I shouldn't have said those things,"
I didn't say anything as I hugged my knees to my chest even tighter. "It must've been painful when you found out your mother died. But even though she's gone, you still have your sister, Ruby. And Yang, and your father, and your Beowolf here. I know I never met her, but from what I heard, Summer Rose was a good mother to you. I know she was," Ian said.
His words made me smile just a little. "And I know she wouldn't want you crying right now. I think she'd want you to be smiling instead,"
I looked over at Ian as he was handing me a large chocolate chip cookie. I took it and gave a small bite.
As I chewed, tears ran down my cheeks as I smiled softly. "It's yummy," I said, and ate more of the cookie. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it," Ian replied while ruffling my head. He looked at Mom's gravestone. "Miss Rose, I promise to look after your daughter. You have nothing to worry about."
I stood to my feet and put half of the eaten cookie on Mom's grave. "It's for when Mom gets hungry. Even in heaven, I'm sure she'd like something sweet as well." I said.
"I think she'd like that, Lily," Ian said. "Let's head back. I think Team RWBY's match is about to start."
"Then, we better go cheer them on!" I said, smiling. I walked with Ian back to Beacon as Shadow followed behind us.

After putting Shadow back in our room, we went to Amity Colosseum and watched the fight between Team RWBY and Team ABRN.
"Woo-hoo! Go, Team RWBY!" I cheered. "Kick their butts, guys!"
"Looks like all their training paid off. They're doing pretty well." Ian commented.
"They're amazing!" My sisters and her team came out victorious after Yang delivered the final blow. "Yeah! Alright!" I cheered.
"Let's go congratulate them." Ian suggested. I nodded in agreement and met up with my sisters and their friends at the fairgrounds. "Ruby!" I called.
I ran over to her and hugged her while she spun me around. "You guys were incredible out there! Unstoppable!"
"Aw, thanks, sis." Yang said. "We did it! Is anyone else starving?" Ruby mentioned. "I may have worked up an appetite." Blake said, and her stomach growled loudly.
"C'mon. I know just the place. Wanna join us, Lily?" Yang asked. "Absolutely!" I agreed. "Can Ian come, too?"
"Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not much of a people person." Ian declined. "Come on, it'll be fun." Ruby insisted.
"Yeah. Plus, I wanna know what kind of guy is chaperoning my baby sister." Yang said. Reluctantly, Ian agreed and we followed my sisters and her friends to a noodle shop.
We all pretty much got the same order, except Blake had fish on top of hers, and Weiss was able to pay for our lunch.
"Aw, Weiss! What's the occasion?" Yang asked. "Consider it thanks for sending me to the Doubles Round." She replied.
But her card was thrown back at her and the machine said it was declined. "What? How can my card be declined? I was barely into my monthly allowance." Weiss mumbled.
"No..." Blake whined when the shopkeeper took back her bowl of noodles.
"Maybe I can help?" A red-haired girl offered. She walked over to us with a three more people accompanying her. "Pyrrha!" Ruby cheered. "Aw, you don't have to." Yang said.
"But she could!" Blake said, quickly. "Well, I think you all earned it after that battle." Pyrrha stated. "Mind if we join you?" Jaune asked.
After eating our lunch, we were all stuffed. "Is it me or am I seeing double of Ruby?" Jaune said, strained from eating so much food.
"Nope. This is Lily Rose, our younger sister," Yang introduced. "Sis, this Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos, and Lie Ren. Also known as Team JNPR."
"It's so nice to meet you!" I greeted. "She's adorable." Pyrrha smiled. "Are you guys identical twins?" Ren asked.
"Mm-hm! Only Ruby is just a bit taller than me." I clarified. "And you are?" Nora asked Ian. "Ian Hyde. The shrimp's babysitter." He introduced.
"Babysitter?" Ren repeated. "It's, uh... kind of a long story, hehe..." I chuckled nervously. "Anyway, thanks for lunch, Miss Nikos. But I have to get going."
"Where you off to?" Jaune asked. "My room. I have to feed my, uh... my dog! Yeah! Zwei! He's starving!" I lied. "Good luck in the tournament!"
I went back to the dorms so I could feed Shadow. The moment I opened the door, Shadow tackled me to the ground while licking my face.
"Missed you, too, buddy. But I wasn't gone for that long," I giggled. After he got off me, I took out his bowl and fed him. "Later, let's go on a walk, okay? Being cooped up in here must get pretty boring, huh?"
I petted his back as he continued to eat. Later on today, after I've taken Shadow for a walk, I think I'll play some games. I really wanna win some prizes I can take home for souvenirs.
